My shadow black 2018 with satin black stripes was at a shop for several weeks and was backed up to a fence line that had a tree over hanging the back 1/3 of the car. There is sap and dirt that isn't washing of with a traditional car wash from Exoforma. Any pointers on product and technique I should use?

Take it back to the shop and demand they detail it for you. Their mess let them clean it.

Not going to do it. The shop owner and I have been friends for 30+ years. I was in his wedding.

I treat tree sap like I would tar deposits, both containing organic compounds that need to be dissolved for safe removal. Something like Carpro TarX or Koch Chemie TEA will help soften these deposits, allowing you to in most cases high-pressure rinse from the surface.

Working in the shade and a panel at a time, apply the product to the affected area, allow to soak but most certainly not dry, then rinse. If the spots remain, reapply, soak then agitate with a towel. Rinse and inspect. You will likely ruin this towel.

KOCH CHEMIE | Teerwasche A – Car Supplies Warehouse
CARPRO Tar X Bug, Tar, and Adhesive Remover | Car Supplies Warehouse – Car Supplies Warehouse

Because of the stripes, just be ultra careful around the edges and work in a shorter time frame, these products are adhesive removers as well.

Super hot water. Works like a charm.
Thanks. I will try this first. I'll get some pics today and post them so you guys can see what I am working with.

Alcohol for the tree sap, nothing else I tried worked nearly as well.

WD40 will also remove tree sap and other sticky substances. Spray product onto the tree sap, let sit for 2-3 mins, spray into microfiber and then work the substance in a small circular motion - not pressing hard onto the surface. The product will break down the substance,; continue to put WD40 on it until it is gone.

After removal, wash wax or polish with your fav products.

WD40 will not harm painted or cleared surfaces, its sole purpose is “water displacement”, aside from it being used as a lubricant…. and for removing “goo”.

If you’re a track/drag racer - WD40 has been used for years on the lower rear 1/4 section behind the wheels to prevent the hot rubber and debris from sticking to the panels. Spray panels before track event, after track event use a hose to rinse the heavy particles from panel and then wash remainder with fav car wash product.

The whole back third of the car looked like the first picture, except way worse when I first picked it up. Then I ran it through an automated car wash and it cut it in half. Last night, I was out there with a flash light and the wash mitt with cold water and Exoforma soap giving it a little elbow grease. Got it down to what you can see in these couple of pics. I think some more soap and hot water will be the next step, and I DO have some 90+ proof Isopropyl alcohol that I use to mix with water for the windows. I'll try that if the hot water doesn't do it. If that doesn't, I'll move on and try the WD40. I actually looked at that can last night but I didn't want to try it at night because of the lack of visibility at night. I didn't want to have the car all streaked up from it and not be able to tell. Thank you guys for all the input. I'll report back with pics to tell of the outcome.

Citrol on a microfiber will wipe straight through that like it's nothing. Sorry to see that happened, though.

I'm sure he was unaware, would be apologetic and make it right.

Stoners Tar and Sap remover has been good to me and you can also use it on tires to remove the brown crust. (Thanks again for that tip @DFB5.0 ) It's cheap and available at your local Walmart.
