these are my results, i cleaned my tires yesterday, and they were dry
I applied and waited about 2 hours
Top one is applied and wiped down with MF
Bottom one is applied and not wiped off

bottom one looks much wetter which i prefer but its got messy wavy marks on it,

Will these dry differently?

Very well done! You did well, those tires can be a nightmare to get a uniform finish on.

The top one looks much better in my opinion.

I had my first usage of PERL recently and I found personally diluted or straight up the finish was the same it just used more or less of the product. I did my tires undiluted and my side plastics at 1:3 then said screw it let me throw on some 1:1 on the front lip.

looked the same used less.

So i am perplexed as to what is better approach. Perl undiluted and use "less" or dilute it and use more.

or maybe I'm doing it all wrong lol who knows.

Mach: You're fine, just learning another product is all. In the big scheme of things, it's how something looks, right? So, if 3:1 gives you the same "look," then I say, rock 'n roll.

Perl is an excellent product when used for what it was designed and that is to embed "shiny stuff" in the pores of the item. I believe that is key as Perl (and other products,) is/are useless on anything that isn't semi-porous.

From what you said, I'd say you're on the money and just need to tailor your dilution until you use the least for the desired look.

FWIW, I always wipe Perl down on tires after waiting about thirty minutes as I am not a "shiny tire" kinda guy. But if you are, skip that step.

I think the top one looks great. I am not a huge fan of super shiny look. That said, the PS4S are notorious with tire dressings due to the extremely slick sidewall that has very little texture. I would try neat and see if that helps. Although I really like Perl, I have recently started using Darkside and I like it much better. I do the apply and wipe back as well, leaves the tires nice and dark but not too shiny.

Well, I guess I am going to have to take a look see at Darkside. Is that a fairly new product for them, D? I sure don't recall the name?

Ordered, thanks for bump, Alex.

Darkside was released very late last year/early this year for us.

Darkside is ready to use and not dilutable. Its solvent based and considered a "sealant" rather than dressing. I find you have to work harder to apply it, rather than the silky smooth glide Perl exhibits. It does create an ultra-dark finish though, but with a sheen to it. For your taste, you would absolutely knock it back afterwards to level it down.

Yes it's pretty new. And I agree with @DFB5.0 you definitely have to do a final wipe down about 30 min after application as it is pretty shiny upon initial application but once you knock it back it's really nice. I find on my Mustang it lasts quite a while as I don't drive a lot and you can simply clean with soap a couple times and it stays looking pretty good before it gets too grungy. On my daily driver I have to wash off every time though as I drive 1000 plus miles a week sometimes so it gets dirt embedded pretty fast.

Do you have it applied to PS4S's?

I haven't applied it to mine as I tend to stick to OG Tire, which seems to work very well with PS4S.

Thanks amigo, I'm glad it wasn't my failing memory at work.

After Alex's recent post, I was thinking the same thing. We'll see, Sarah is due for a bath soon.
