The stock hood blinker/vents look like a fantastic part for aftermarket replacement - larger ventage along the entire length of the part might work wonders in tandem with higher flow grill, no?

Pic to come
Just keep in mind part of the reason for the oem shape is to help change the pressure to assist in draw air out. I don't know if you go to a smooth surface how that is impacted.

Maybe the Roush version is more functional in that respect?

Reminds me of the 1LE Camaro hood vent....and the Chevy Performance guys certainly do their homework.

I like this
heck, I like em all!

I already bought the RTR diffuser so I think I will go RTR hi-flow grill.

BTM, I want to see the cutout grill bro, sounds sweet in a not-so-daily driver kind of way :D

The hood already lifts on these cars at speed, so be careful how much you open up the grills.
I was talking to a couple of guys at the track this past weekend that had open grills and they both said it made it a lot worse...

Uh oh, having second thoughts now....

But I feel like there must be a way to adequately vent the additional airflow in the space occupied by the stock heat extractors, which have a very small venting area, and very small inlet area under the hood.

Would love to find a way to do this without replacing hood.

Agree, if you look at the Conti Shelby's the front inner fender is replaced with screen, most all PWC / Conti Mustangs always (almost) run a heat extractor hood....without it you force the heat under the car and also create lift (I assume) so two bad things are accomplished by allowing more air in the front with no place for it to go. At low speeds an open grill may allow additional cooling because you open up the surface area but at high speeds it has no place to go except down the driveline. With the stock opening at 130 the hood looks like it wants to take flight.

As long as the air you allow in has a place to go, cut away.

I would like to see an experiment where a shroud is made to reach forward to the grille from around the extents of the radiator. Now the open grille holes are all used to route the incoming air directly through the radiator. The rest of the air would be forced to remain exterior to the car.

In other words, more air is forced through the radiator, since none is allow to expand sideways in front of it, AND less air overall is allowed into the engine bay.

Personally, I don't believe in opening up all the holes in my grille. I wish Ford had styled an overall smaller grille opening, but I think they wanted the styling to tie-in closer to the previous generation.

I think people may be making a bigger deal of engine bay heat then it really is.

Front end aerodynamics and airflow to the motor is one place I tend to put more faith in Ford engineers than someone selling a piece of plastic with some chicken wire in it.

After (if) this new job goes well, I'll be getting the tiger racing hood. Next trackday would be in july and I'll mount the gopro looking back at it to check lift.

Stock hood vents are pretty much non functional. The fact that they added turn signals in MY2016 and the euro version mustang doesnt have them at all proves its just for looks.

I agree with optimum, if you dont have a vented hood you shouldnt open up the grill.
I believe that somebody has already posted this before, but the tiger racing hood is perfect for opening up the grill and getting desired cooling.

Agreed, the hood opening only has to be large enough to flow the same amount of air that can pass through the radiator, a/c heat exchanger and out the engine bay.

I'll bet extra flow will come from an easier path for air to leave the engine bay and or reducing restrictions through radiator by removing the a/c heat exchanger. The front opening looks more than large enough.

Yea it works so well the hood wants to rip open at 100mph. I believe you talked to people with open grills and it only makes it worse.
