Test drove a C8...not impressed

I've wanted a vette for years, and the C8 just looks awesome.

I'm the opposite. I don't like how they look. I expect I would love the way they handle with the mid engine design, but I never test drove one because I couldn't get past the look. I much prefer the styling of the C7 and C6.

the C7 appears to be the sweet spot for style and a nice experience overall.
my heart, still, is for the C5, though. I think those are just timeless.

I'll stick to my C6 GS vert. I think they are the best looking next to the 80 but C6 technology is much better than the C3.

GM should be rebranded as JM.

They have extracted every penny from every part and process all in the name of giving more profit to the shareholders. Not that everyone hasn't fallen prey to the hedge fund burn it down philosophy, but GM has taken it to a level that there products are nothing but Junk now.

The 6.2 now has problems due to cost cutting and bad manufacturing (cheap parts) on a previously solid platform which explodes on unwitting customers. Their fix, ultra thin oil and Band-Aids which still lead to catastrophic failures, just slightly further, if at all, very far down the road.

Of course, this helps Ford sell Excursions to remorseful Tahoe and Suburban owners as well as their GMC counterparts.

You can find many more issues across their brands, both known and not so well known without even trying.

GM will die a slow miserable death as their failures will hopefully no longer be covered up by bought and paid for Motor Trend or Car and Driver reviews.

The Corvette is not immune to this corporate misgovernance.

I have watched a number of Youtube videos lately about the number of C8s that are on the used car market. If what I saw is true the value of these cars ared doping. In addition they mentioned thaht almost ever part in the car is proprietary to the C8, no shared parts with any other GM cars. The question they asked is if any parts will be avalilble in 20 years and if so at what cost. You may think this is silly but I could not get a new solenoid for my 2018 Mustang with the 10R80, or even a rebuild kit, as that starter was only made for the 2018 and 2019 Mustangs. So rather than a $50 solenoid I had to buy a new starter at a cost of $320. One distributor told me the demand is not high enough for that starter to produce parts to fix it, you have to buy a new one. So if the design or parts chang for a C8 year to year you maay have a problem.

Imagine trying to find parts for special cars in the future like the Z06, ZR1, not to mention the ZR1X or e-ray

I drove my friends c8. From a dig, due to the engine placement and that dct, absolutely RIPS. It’s fast

And that’s about it. Soulless. Needs louder exhaust and a manual in it. Wasn’t a fan of the cockpit either.

also the rear and some angles make it look like a car from Grand Theft Auto. Looks like a video game car.

Only vette I want is the C6Z. Or a C5Z.

I think the C7 Z06 would scratch my power itch...always wanted a supercharged car.

Then put an ESS on it and enjoy your car!!!! Way more fun than a C8 and easy to drive around town.

40k miles on a 2025 Vette? The previous owned must've loved driving. Too bad it was thrashed.

I owned a C7 Z06 and would never go back to that car or platform. Squeeks, rattles, cracked wheels, getting in and out of it sucks, it's got midlife crisis looks. Hard pass second time around.

Drove a Darkhorse and liked it as a cruiser. Felt a little heavy and slightly underpowered, but I'm spoiled with the GT500. It's definitely a good daily hotrod. You'll get over the dash.

I really liked my C5. But I agree with others that a Camaro is a good compromise. I would recommend you even check out non-supercharged 6 gen Camaros. I think they are pretty fun. Build quality seems a lot better to me. They don't rattle or squeak. The interior is quiet. They really aren't that much slower in normal driving than a Corvette.

I’m biased obviously but have you driven a 350?

I used to have a 2016 GT PP. also owned a 2019 1SS 1LE.

The 350 is another animal entirely.

Yes, although the C7’s I’ve driven didn’t really have any squeaks or rattles

If I was to ever buy a Vette it would probably be a C7 because of the interior, but I prefer the appearance of the C5 and C6.
