BE SURE TO HAVE THE VIN FOR YOUR DONOR apim such that you may update using a My Ford account. My apim was from a '17 using the 2.1 software. This is the only way i can figure to get software updates. If there are other ways then point it out.

Spart posted a while back on how to look up the VIN for the bezel. I believe it is also described in the google docs ForScan spreadsheet. While that doesn't mean that the APIM is the same VIN number, still, the car that "gave you" the bezel is probably non operational any more. If you are like me and bought everything from one seller on ebay or what have you, then it probably came from the same car, and the VIN in the bezel probably is the correct one for the APIM.

Took a chance on a Sync 3 NAV unit on eBay from China, which included VIN programming, hub, GPS module, and adapters and cables for $640. Installed and working great, minus NAV (Navigation fault error). The seller sent me some maps to download and is supposedly sending me something else to help with the install, waiting for a response on the details. I'm not too worried, as I got Android Auto working without issue. The one thing that stood out is this unit is running Sync 3 version 3.2284 Build 17265_DEVTEST. Anyone else seen that in the wild? I'd assume by "DEVTEST" that this build was not meant for public consumption....

Hey! for you guys hunting Recaro bezels.. we have them in stock! 2018-19 EB/GT and GT350/GT350R. These are backwards compatible with 15-17 cars and feature upgraded firmware! Chris has us set up with the manufacturer so we are able to get these to you guys for the same price as our "favorite" Ford dealer.

If you had access to it, in theory you could. You could also spend $375 on a GT350 bezel and swap the switches, and trim. But you’re still left with mislabeled switches.

Yeah, the GT350 FCIM (aka radio bezel) has it's own circuitry, it's actually a module of it's own in the Ford system just like the PCM or APIM.

Unfortunately, the functions of the toggle switches on the GT350 are different from all other S550's, so if you do a direct swap with no mods you lose functionality.

Honestly, I think the toggle switches in the regular S550's are nicer. They feel metallic (even though they're probably just chrome plated) and premium. The toggle switches in my GT350 just feel like plastic blah.

A lot of the interior differences in the GT350 are just that... different. Not necessarily nicer.

I have already done my install with your harness. But this thread gave me so much information and saved me so much time and money I will send them to you for free. I want to do an audio upgrade with amplifiers someday so if you do the the harness for that send me the information to order and we will call it even. PM me with where to ship. Might be next weekend before I can ship them however.

Shout out to Harness by Hextall, bought a complete upgrade from a 4.2 to 8 and absolutely love it. You will not be disappointed. Sounds so much better than the 4.2. Thank you guys very much. Dont hesitate just buy the whole kit and be done with it.
