What's the best way to get the adapter cable from MFT to sync3 without the need to splice the exciting loom.

Thanks. Will do
are you looking for the hub adapter? I ended up ordering mine from 4d tech and then using re route shipping to get it to New Zealand, but since mine was a late 2016 I didn't even need it! :/ Anyway if you want it I can sell you mine

I'm hoping someone can clear something up for me here. I'm watching ebay for parts and found the following part numbers

fr3t-18b955-fa
fr3t-18b955-fb

Is this the right touchscreen for car play? I don't want to buy the MFT touchscreen but I read this in the listing ( I have a 2017 GT) . Can anyone tell me the difference between the two parts?

I just picked up the following components from another member:

2016 GT350 Premium Radio Bezel
2016 GT350 Sync3 Module

I will be upgrading a Base 2015 Mustang GT w/ cloth recaro seats (no heated seats). If I order the harness from Hextall, will that be the only other component I need aside from programming?

You will also need the upgraded USB port that goes inside the center console as well as a new GPS antenna

I want to give a big thank you to @HextallS550. I purchased the MFT to Sync3 upgrade kit from him and did the swap today. Great product, great price, and easy to install. I finally have my Apple Carplay! Merry Christmas everyone!

Just found out the GT350 radio panel womt work with a SYNC3 swap because of the circuit board. I'm thinking of using the base circuit board with a mix of buttons and knobs from both the gt350 and base panel. Has anyone done this before? I'm thinking this should be doable...?

I have been desiring to do a MFT->Sync3 conversion/upgrade sense discovering its a thing that exists back in april for the 2013 C-Max I got in febuary. However the cost involved for 4dtech (what I initially thought was the only option) backburnered that.

However a non-stop boot-loop crash issue with the MFT system, and a lack luster unhelpful response from Wyatt Johnson Ford regarding a car I have had from them for under a year (seriously do not deal with them!!!) has gotten me to re-examin this and discover the car-part junkyard DIY route!

I now have the sync3 Apim+Screen, the GPS antennae, the Car-play/android auto media hub, the bezel adaper for said hub, pry tools for the dash, and a usb-to-OBDII adapter for forscan, along with a forscan installation with the license to program...
(Also my as built data from ford, along with the as built data from a random 2017 c-max that was similarly loaded to mine except it shipped with sync3)

As far as I am aware (anyone correct me if I am wrong) the only thing I am missing is the wiring adapter for the media hub.

I dont want to buy the pigtail as I have big hands and the center console is small so with my proficiency at soldering (lack there of( janky and ugly under the best of conditions, impossible in such cramped conditions)), and the lack of durablity for twisting together.

The OP here along with 4dtech’s website has a pre-wired adapter for this that is desireable. However 4dtech’s website wants 49.99 for it which I may do but at the moment I cant justify that for a 2ā€ cord.

The instructions in the OP here indicated a 8pin jack on one side, which appears to be for the 2015 Focus & Mustang, with the 2013 C-Max using a 12 pin adapter (2 rows of 6) (information from 4dtech’s website where they offer 3 different versions of this adapter). Despite searching I have not been able to determine what the 12pin plug is or anyway to source it/this adapter outside of an insane 50$ to 4dtech. However the OP managed to figure out that his 8pin adapter was some form of molex adapter and even seems to offer to make them for people.

So I figured I would ask for help on finding that information, and/or (possibly) get one made?!

Hi, just contact Hextalls550 he has a small businness dedicated to sync units swapping.
With reference to my immediately previous post, and my admittedly noob to this forum, I created a profile on this site with the intention of PM’ing him about the wiring adapter I previously mentioned in the other post.

That other post was my contingency when, after clicking through his profile and the OP post I couldn’t find a PM button.

So my likely very stupid question is ā€œHow do I go about doing the: ā€˜just contact Hextalls550’ ā€œ???

You can get a hold of him through the Facebook page shown in the previous page. Going to http://harnessbyhextall.com/ routes to it too I think.

Heh guys, this is Chris with Harness By Hextall. If you have any specific questions about Sync 3 swaps please contact me via PM. We are now Mustang6g sponsors and I will have further info, such as pricing, in another thread. Our website is being built as we speak but, as we always have, discounts for 6g members will apply.

Have to ask... why??? The base (4.2 board) can not be cut or modified to accommodate the 8ā€ version.
