I find it hilarious that half the people posting are dependent on magazine reviews for their buying decisions.

Go drive the damn car.
:amen: I read these things too, but really just for the pictures. Automotive Journalism isn't what it used to be.

My 2 cents......Ford left some on the table thank goodness. Who HERE wouldn't want a car/truck/airplane/tank that we can tinker with and say to our significant other...."Lookie what I put on my car/truck/airplane/tank! Its so shiny and makes me go faster/handle better/look cooler/blow more stuff up!!"

Personally, I want that satisfaction that comes with putting the work in myself! Isn't that what this country is about folks!:usa: So to Ford, I say thank you for firstly giving my Dad a Job for 27 years and letting him retire....Second, thank you for making this vehicle for 50 years and giving me the opportunity to have a piece of American history in my garage! and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Actually, SN95 came out for the '94 model year, but the 4.6L showed up 2-years later for '96. A big part of that was due to the need to become OBD-2 compliant, which they weren't with the Windsor engine. So, that is not a simple case of Ford slipping a new engine in the year after a body change. I don't think that there are any cases where Ford actually planned to introduce a new body and then follow it with a new engine a year later. The one time it happened was engineering overrun...
Yeah, you're right now I recall the last year of the Fox Body was '93 though given that the 4.6 was in the Mark VIII starting in '93 I'm curious what the OBDII compliance issues were? Either way, this was just a theory I had bangin' around in my head but as you all point out, it wouldn't really pay for Ford to miss the vaunted 50th Anniversary 2015 launch and show up w/ a new killer engine ostensibly a year late. :headbonk:

. . . and well said. The minutia we're arguing about likely only matters to us "1%ers"! :ford:

I absolutely agree with you but as Americans we should want to Dominate in every aspect of our lives dont leave nothing on the table take it straight to BMW Mercedes and Audi that way instead of putting work in the garage you can be putting in work on the track or street and Smashin anything the Germans put out. Dont get me wrong we've come a long way I never would imagine a day where I was actually going to buy an American sports car I just felt that they were coming up short in the overall driving experience and in aesthetics. I guess my point is we as Americans should never ever Settle for just good enough! Just My 2 cents Sorry for ranting!

It's a bit surprising to me given the resources Ford had to work with and the major changes it's made to the Mustang's design that more progress wasn't evident to the reviewers. A cash-strapped GM did a fantastic job with the C7, what will they accomplish with the new Camaro...
Cash strapped? Who are you kidding? They have unlimited government funds that will NEVER BE REPAID!

These are not reviews, they are previews...
These are nothing more than driving impressions, in each case just the opinion of one person from each publication and based on limited time with the car.

The lone exception is R&T, which seems to have had one for a longer period of time (and not coincidentally the most positive of the impressions. Also, R&T's feedback seems to be the only take where more than one person drove the car.

Bear in mind that each "reviewer" brings his own personal biases and preferences along with him for the drive.

I can't believe the stuff some of the people are saying here based on nothing more than what someone whom they don't know from Adam are telling them.

I prefer to chill and wait for actual instrumented tests, not just cheap stopwatch numbers. So far the sample size of impressions is statistically insignificant. I'm willing to let some others drive the cars and their voices be heard.

This ain't your father's Mustang. This is a whole new ball game that will attract a great many more players. If you prefer your father's Mustang, that's cool. It's a win-win for everyone.

Think the bloated Challenger and Camaro are more appealing? Go buy one. Enjoy it. Just don't come whining when the GT350 comes out.

just an FYI, and im sure this may not be the nicest thing to do to him, for those that haven't read the R&T thread in detail one of the reviewers Alex Nunez is a member here and answered a couple of my quick questions... seems very positive about the car and he has actually driven it (vs the armchair quarterback members here). says its better than an M235 which has gotten alot of praise for handling

I thought Ford was benchmarking the M4/M3 not the M235i

AFAIK yes, but the M235 isn't twice the price.
My reasoning being the 13 Mustang hung with the E92 M3 in straight line performance and twisty's so natural evolution or progress would be to compete with them or Surpass the New gen BMW. Price aside ofcourse strictly performance

i can't agree with this any more. I may be a rarity here, but, the only reason i am buying the car is for me. my friends may or may not oogle over it when i drive up, but soon enough, the car will be common on the road and the oogling will diminish... (just as i am typing this, a new employee walked into my office and said "nice car!!!" so, maybe after 10 years, the oogling will continue)

that aside, the car is for me. Will I love it? I love my '05, and given the improvements on this car, i promise you, I will absolutely love this car. I am still 100% sold on the car, i am in no way dissuaded on my purchase decision. I am just loving the reading material that is now becoming available as i wait for it to arrive.
