I think this is a great summary from one of the reviews:

"Mind you, I drove the GT in a group that also included the Porsche 911 GT3, the Lexus RC F, and the Italian-superhero Ferrari 458 Speciale. It confidently, casually held its own in that heady company."

I'm glad I passed on the 50th LE, for now. Bits that's because I'm lucky enough to have a Boss. I will be test driving one for myself though and likely holding out for a track variant. Sounds like a very good car. But I'm looking for something with more personality. After all that's why I left BMW and grabbed myself a Boss in the first place.

in the R&T thread one of the actual reviewers.. who is also a member here... said he prefers the GT PP to the M3 they had for PCOTY... so its gotta be in the same ball park handling wise...

when comparison is to wishful thinking and expectations EVERYTHING falls short.. ppl gotta just relax and see how it actually stacks up vs the competition

Yes, it'll be an overall better car, and probably have a lot more potential to tap into, but I'm not sure I can justify it now. Perhaps waiting for the 2016 or a GT350 would be more in order for me.
So here's something I've been a bit curious about, a couple of times in the past Ford introduced a new body style for the Mustang and then following year they introduced a new or upgraded power train. They did this w/ the intro of the '94 SN95 body that still had the gen 1 5.0 engine and then in '95 the introduced the 4.6 mod motor. Likewise in 2010 Ford did the significant face lift on the S197 model but waited until 2011 to introduce the Coyote engine. My impression for the reason they do this would be so they're not trying to tackle two engineering challenges at once.

Subsequently does anyone think it's possible that for the 2016 m/y Ford may show up w/ a significantly upgraded version of the Coyote engine that may finally crack the 450 - 500 hp barrier that many of us thought would be forthcoming w/ this car. Especially given the 600hp rumors that are swirling around a possible flat-plane-crank 5.2l engine in an upcoming 2016 GT350. Say for instance could it be possible that we see a standard 90* v8 5.2l Coyote rated around 500hp and then the more exotic FPC 5.2l rated at 600 hp?

. . . just something to think about?

Yep, I saw his reply :D. It is Nooz, I think.

I am glad I ordered mine on 5/20. Looking forward to the car and all the refinements it has.

I think a lot of us already drive Mustangs and these numbers just don't impress at all. We all realize it's limited seat time with a new chassis, motor, etc., but as someone else said, the initial reviews of a car are generally very flattering and then slow decline over time. These aren't even starting out that flattering.

Yeah, I'm sure IRS would be nice for ride comfort and the steering feel and handling are probably improved. But, for someone like me with a 2013 and a few aftermarket mods (Eibach suspension kit, for instance), there just doesn't seem to be enough to really justify the cost here.

A lot of us were concerned about the weight when it leaked, then the horsepower/torque figures as well. It seems those concerns may have been well founded.

Yes, it'll be an overall better car, and probably have a lot more potential to tap into, but I'm not sure I can justify it now. Perhaps waiting for the 2016 or a GT350 would be more in order for me.

Exactly, I have a 2012 Brembo GT, springs, bilsteins, sway bars, and I was thinking seriously about getting a 2015 PP GT. Thinking it would out perform my 2012. That is a big no, now. Maybe the GT350 in a year. Either way, I think Ford absolutely spit the bit and missed out on a great opportunity to create a car for the enthusiast and instead created a pony car for grandma and grandpa to drive. Maybe now we know why they been holding out all info for so long, they knew it wasn't going to meet the hype they been promoting. I am disappoint.

I'd be really pissed if I bought a 15 and Ford came out with a new engine next year ala 2010.

Yes I know in '05 they did line up the redesign of the S197 and the release of the 3v 4.6, my point was simply that TWO times in the past they've done this new body / new engine 1-2 punch so it's hardly unprecedented. Given the buzz around the purported 2016 GT350 engine and that reviews seem a bit underwhelmed by the current power numbers, I don't see how this notion is so far afield "off-topic"

I'd be really pissed if I bought a 15 and Ford came out with a new engine next year ala 2010.
Roger that!

But you'd have admit there is a president given FoMoCo has pulled this number twice in the last 20 years when switching over it's power train options specifically w/ the Mustang. I'm not saying it's likely, I'm just saying it's a possibility given their history.

Fixed that for ya.
You are correct sir! I'm gettin' "sometimers" in my old age and couldn't remember if my buddies 5.0 SN95 GT was a '94 or a '95. It is in fact a '95 GT which was the first year of the SN95 body style and the 4.6 engine showed up a year later in '96.

To be completely accurate I do believe the 4.6l showed up in the Lincoln Mark VIII in 1998 but Ford didn't jockey it across to the Mustang until '96, one year after the body style change over, even though it was obviously ready to go before then.

I highly doubt you'd see a new engine next year. Ford would get decimated for doing that 1 model year later again. It has to be at the refresh in 2018...any sooner and you'll have hell to pay.

It is in fact a '95 GT which was the first year of the SN95 body style and the 4.6 engine showed up a year later in '96.
Actually, SN95 came out for the '94 model year, but the 4.6L showed up 2-years later for '96. A big part of that was due to the need to become OBD-2 compliant, which they weren't with the Windsor engine. So, that is not a simple case of Ford slipping a new engine in the year after a body change. I don't think that there are any cases where Ford actually planned to introduce a new body and then follow it with a new engine a year later. The one time it happened was engineering overrun...
