Anyone want to buy a trainer for cheap?
Twenty15 How much?

I have driven 30 miles on my new wheels, and the TPMS still will not update. :frusty:

Apparently they are Ford OEM for this car, but nothing, nada, zip.
I tried the in-car Start button, then Hazard switch x3. Display showed "Learning Mode", but then reported LF failed to learn.

I think these sensors are not compatible. Oh boy, now I get to have my tires partially dismounted and dick around with more sensors.

I bought Ford sensors and they wouldn't learn by themselves. I have the Ford tpms training tool and it worked. Follow this vid

Ah. So I could get it into training mode, but I still need the special tool. That is why the display said the LF sensor failed - it must have been the first on the list.

I called a tire shop earlier. The guy actually recommended reusing the old sensors, and swapping them over. That way you don't waste battery life of the set of wheels that is shut down. Good point, but there is a charge and hassle to do this a couple times per year.

My car goes in for service tomorrow for Trunk Ajar message. Maybe they will train my sensors for N/C.

If you're going into the dealer definitely have them train the tpms while the car is in there. The tool is cheap and nice to have in the box though...

Update: While my car was in for Trunk Ajar message, I had them hard program the sensors. They have been 100% reliable since, plus their pressures match my track gauge pressures exactly.

Some sensors are syncing and some arent its the weirdest thing I have been seeing recently.

Im talking with a ton of companies to see why this is.

First I'm hearing of this...when I bought wheels from N4SM I had them include TPMS and they sync'd right up, in fact I never got an idiot light for them when I swapped the wheels.

Yes, please keep us updated on what you come up with. I'd hate to discover that these sensors are now being designed and marketed for the sole purpose (profits) of needing a sync tool.

With my new wheel and tire setup, the tpms did not sync on their own (they were new also). Ordered the tpms tool, and they still will not sync. Can get the car into tpms learning mode, but they just won't sync. So for now I'm just dealing with the idiot light on.

Anyone have any problems with the TPMS that TireRack uses? I'm going to need winter tires for mine, so I'm hoping to know whether I need the tool or not before I have to order those this fall.

I just mounted new wheels, haven't driven around yet but the tpms tool also was not working, I could get the car into the tpms learning mode but when I point the sync tool at the valve nothing is happening, the car just stays on "left front"

Nope, put my new wheel/tire package from tire rack on tuesday and they synced right up. Took about 30 seconds, literally. The PSI bounced around for a few minutes but finally settled and is accurate according to my digital and analog pressure gauges.
