I had my GT350 airbox installed by a shop when some other tuning was going on...they told me that they just sorta shove the whole box into the engine bay as an assembly and "it's a tight fit"

Well, I didn't have the snorkel tube that runs to the grill when they did the install, and I did not have the foam seal near the fender either.

Well, I bought those parts, along with the 350 specific PCV lines, to do this conversion the right way. I unhooked all connectors from the airbox, loosened it from the throttle body, but I couldn't get the box out of the car.

That little sheet metal bracket on the LH fender where the foam seal sits blocks the side of the airbox from coming straight out. NO amount of finesse would get it out.

Between the fender and the LH side of the engine, the thing wouldn't move far enough one way or another, so, any suggestions? Would removing the top of the airbox where it meets the underside of the hood give me a bit more wiggle room?

Thanks!!

There's a bolt that holds the airbox to the fender, top right of the unit near the edge of the fender.

Yeah, I had that out - that's not the issue - the problem is that the airbox is squeezed in there as tight as can be - it'll move around freely, but I can't actually pull it out of the engine bay because of that fender bracket

I installed this on my GT and if I remember correctly, it didn't just drop straight in. You may have to twist/turn it as you lift it out. I think it was a pretty tight fit.

Hey Earlsays, just realized your modding a GT.. Apologies for any misinformation in your other thread.

I looked removal of the 'air box' in the Helm. I couldn't find that exact procedure but the seal on top is a separate piece from the box below. To get to the lower box, you need to remove the 'air cleaner outlet pipe' as Ford call it, or the 'cold air intake' as aftermarket manufacturers call it. To access the lower box:
- remove MAF sensor and two harness bolts
- removed the seal assembly -looks like 4 bolts (torque on them is 18 lb.ft. (25 Nm)
- disconnect vent tubes away from the CAI
- loosen clamp from CAI at the manifold (torque 44 lb.in. (5 Nm) and remove assembly.

This should give you access to the box below

Good luck

Hey thanks!!! I looked in the ford service manual and it says the same thing - others have suggested squeeze the side of the box, to clear the fender bracket, and pull straight out - I tried that and it's a tight fit - gonna dis-assemble and see what happens...
