I'm stuck. I have a heated steering wheel and I'm trying to put on the Steeda wheel. I know I lose the heated function but they don't tell you have to handle the wiring. In the old wheel, the wires are embedded in the lower part and I don't know what to do with them. Of course, me moving around broke one cable but the part that plugs into the new wheel is not still on the old wheel. I cannot believe this thing didn't come with printed instructions. Of course, the video Steeda has used a wheel without the heat.

I don't want to put it back on and just see what I lose. Has anyone gone from a heated wheel to a non-heated wheel that can help me out?

It only gets worse, the several of the holes for the screws have not been threaded. This is horrible workmanship. Now I'm screwed.

Hello Mike,

I cannot help tonight - our installation team is away from the office. Please email me at [email protected] & I can get this routed in the a.m.

Steeda does not manufacture these steering wheels & they are made to our specs.

We'll get you taken care of.

Sometimes those steering holes are not threaded because the screws are cutting the threads, basically self tapping
Screws are steel and the wheel being aluminum is much softer
Can you put a picture of the screw that goes in that hole ?

True.

But even the shiitiest Chineseum doesn't yield easily to a 6g thread form. You're liable to just strip the thread root before you can enough torque on the fastener.

It really depends on the type of threads on the bolt/screw and the hole id

Fair. But this is either m5x0.8 or m6x1.0 I should think. A home Depot tap will fix it up right up, but should not be needed. Steeda properly should have inspected and remedied before it went out to a customer. And if they were all bad, to have a sit-down with their supplier

As Ronnie was fond of saying, Trust but Verify. Just because the counterparty isn't Russian doesn't mean you ignore da rulz

The screws will not cut the treads. I tried. I’m going to get a cheap tap and die set and try to fix it. I don’t want to put the original back on and then do it again if I get a replacement.

I really like Steeda suspension parts but they need to stop selling stuff they don’t manufacture. You think you are buying Steeda quality but you are not.

Your feedback has been received by our internal team - I have provided them this thread & photos - they will be in touch shortly.

Thank you,

Steeda relies on some of the top names in the Mustang Community to support, develop, and manufacture parts made to our specifications. This is common in the industry, and Steeda has been doing it for many years with great success.

We appreciate your feedback & support as we continue to maintain our leadership in the aftermarket community.

Best Regards,

TJ

I’ve seen this more than a few times now with this particular wheel. I was going to order one but after several comments I decided to order a Beith wheel. More expensive but I won’t need to tap any threads.

Buy the SINGLE tap and get quality rather than quantity..

I am sorry to hear about your issue with the steering wheel. I have a different Steeda steering wheel for my 2022 Mach 1 and I absolutely love it and the craftmanship. You may want to look into something like this.

That looks like what I got only with red stripe and stitching.

Did you have a heated steering wheel? If so what did you do with the wires going to the bottom of the original wheel?
