Don’t think theirs anything wrong with it.
It’s more just me not liking a harder clutch pedal.

The good news is that the tune and crank relearn fixed the clutch surging between shifts.
that was really pissing me off when low rpm cruising.
Been driving stick only for 33 years and looked like an amateur.

The OEM spring is a clutch pedal depression assist, it lessen the leg pushing effort. So as mentioned in a few posts you need the intermediate spring to regain the assist. OEM spring was designed for females, Steeda spring is designed for near zero pedal depression assist.
Many guys take the spring out completely but with that causes an issue returning the pedal arm to activate the clutch switch.

Can't remember this, no problem like this with my current Sodemann spring.

There is often some confusion about how the OEM return spring works. I went with the 97# spring as mentioned earlier as a nice compromise between the Steeda nothing spring and super heavy OEM. While the return spring assists in holding down the clutch when depressed, it also pushes against you in the later half of the return travel of the pedal. There's a brake-over point in the travel where after you compress it, it assists you instead. So, a lighter spring means more force to hold the clutch in but less force pushing back against you as you let it out.

Stretch the Steeda spring out to 3.25” to 3.50”
That was the sweet spot for my Steeda spring.

Didn’t actually think about stretching the spring out a bit 🤔

Maybe get one of each Sodemann spring and find the best solution for you, like I did?
No need to try to alter the Steeda spring, there is something out of the box that fits your needs. 😉

Sodemann wasn’t available way back in the early S550 days. So stretching was my fix back then. Took some effort to stretch it. There’s some risk involved too. Personal protection is a must.

@GregO These are standard springs for the industry, they have been around for years, but noone except Steeda figured out. @Mikepol2 came up with it here in the forum, if I remember correctly.
McMaster-Carr is the source for the US.
Btw. Steeda offers 95 lb/in spring for the S197.
