I had the seal on in less than 2 minutes, where are you guys running into trouble on it? The biggest pain of the install for me was using a handsaw to get the resonator thing off the intake piece you reuse. Overall, I couldn't believe how simple the install was.
Handsaw took me 1 minute lol. The seal problem was the groove inside, it was not even, i had to open it up with a flat head screw driver. The corners especially was so hard to get it in.

Man I hate sitting my hood by push hard with my hands. I usually grab my hood latch pull it down hard and let it go. Feel like I'm gonna dent my hood pushing down on it. Not to mention two big hand prints. Hhmmmm. It should get easier with time as it compresses the hood liner in the areas the box makes contact.

I just drop my hood from about 8"-1ft open and it closes fine.

I have hood struts. So that doesn't work for me. Lol

It should, I have hood struts too, and works for me. At 8"-12" open the struts are compressed enough the hood will fall and latch. Pushing down to shut it is unsettling, would be careful not to dent it. Especially on that line in the center. Though I do not have this intake. So I really don't know how much pressure the Steeda box puts up on the hood.

Yeah. My MRT struts won't let that happen.

Any issues with the filter getting wet?
Not really. You can see in the pics I posted some minor discoloration near the front on the filter; this was after running a hose right into the hood vent. The majority of the water went in front of the filter and drains out the bottom of the box. Being an oil based filter helps even more with repelling water.

The front of the box holds a small amount of water but doesn't touch the filter. The rest drains out the bottom of the box.

Will be installing my tune and intake as soon as Steeda emails me the tune. What is the consensus on a new thermostat with this tune, is it needed?

You don't particularly "need" The 170 thermostat , but it will sure cut down on how often the fans cut on if you have it

That's only if Steeda adjusts the fan timing like Lund does. Which I believe they leave the fan timing stock. So it should be no different than before. Lund adjusts the fan timing on all his tunes by default in an effort to keep temps in check and is matched ready for lowered thermostats. So if your Lund tuned and get a low temp thermostat the fans will come on less often.
