I recently did a lot of research on what tuner to buy for my car. I looked at Bama, Lund, local tuner, Steeda, and a few others. This is my daily driver and I wanted to make sure that I was getting a tune that is reliable while still making it worth the buy.

Ultimately I went with Steeda due to a fair price, tunes for life, great customer service with all the other parts I have from Steeda on my car.

To make a long story short I had a Corsa CAI on my car already that didnt require a tune and Steeda would not tune to that CAI, so I ended up buying their intake as well. Thinking if I am going to tune the car I might as well go big for the best gains.

First impression is the filter on the Steeda CAI is more than twice the size of the one in the Corsa CAI. MAF housing was also decently bigger in size, but it was machined out of metal. This leads to the next part where the Steeda IAT run higher than the CORSA CAI. I think this is due to that metal MAF housing and it being an open CAI vs the Corsa.

Once I uploaded the tune and put the CAI in, I cranked up the car and drove it a few miles. The car drove smoother than stock and had quite a bit more by the butt-dyno. The exhaust note also changed a little (Corsa extreme cat-back).

One other item I had before I planned on tuning my car was a pedal max. The pedal speed on the Steeda tune was a little more aggressive than stock but still lacked that punch that the pedal max gave. So I plugged the PM back in with the tune and it was just insane. Throttle was way too sensitive and felt unnatural.
So then I remembered the PM came with a little red resister that reduces the sensitivity to 60 or 65% of the full increase it is capable of. This together with the tune made the throttle response PERFECT.

I know some people may respond with having them tweek the tune to get the throttle response changed, but I don't feel like going back and forth with increasing and decreasing the pedal sensitivity until its just how I want it right now.

Doing pulls (mostly starting from a slow roll) is so much more fun now. The car throws you back into the seat and keeps you there.

I have a Steeda CAI also, but the No-tune version. They look and work great. Very well made and nicely designed. I'm holding off on a tune until the end of my warranty. I'd like to get one sooner but really want/need to avoid any warranty issues.

I made several changes to my steeda cai to combat IATs.

I switched from steeda to Lund for my tunning. Definitely happier. Glad you're enjoying the new setup.

I bought the Steeda ProFlow CAI & Tunes for life as well (running MBRP Street cat back). Steeda keeps their tunes fairly conservative, especially with those that have few mods (such as myself). It was definitely a better feel than stock, but just lacked the power that I thought i'd gain. A Lund tune changed that. If you find yourself with the extra cash, try a tune (93) from Lund Racing.

GL with the new setup

How do you like the no tune version? Is there a significant sound and power increase?

I know I could probably gain a few HP/TQ here and there throughout the curves but I am happy to run a slightly conservative tune since this is my daily. I don't need to max it out everywhere for the street.

My buddy has a 17 gt and he has the steeda tune, steeda proflow cai and roush axle back exhaust and the car put down 425 rwhp (manual trans) and thats what made me go with the steeda tune and Cai setup.... I've seen that some peoples cars are putting that down but with long tubes installed on top of the tune, cai and axle back exhaust and he had only cai, tune and axle back exhaust so I would believe the steeda tune to be a good one
