Anyone have the steeda stainless steel brake lines on their Mach 1? Can you please confirm the part number for the kit? My install has become a complete disaster. I’m wondering if I got the proper kit.

These are the Steeda braided stainless lines for Mach 1's with MagneRide. The sku is 555-6042. I have these on my car. I had my dealer install them at the same time with Steeda's two piece rotors. Call them tomorrow as I have received incorrect parts from them due to the sku/picture/descriptions not matching. Hope this helps.

Here’s what I received, same part number (assuming they are properly labeled and packaged)but my installer couldn’t get them to fit properly and had at least 1 call with steeda. In less than 5 miles of driving I have brake fluid leaking at all 4 corners. I am beyond pissed. I don’t have time to do this work myself, I certainly don’t have time to get my car back to the shop again to get it resolved.

I bought the same product from Steeda and didn't install them as they appeared too short, weird fittings and cheap. Not a fan. Maybe 1000's put them on and work but my set was suspect.

In your case, obviously not installed properly nor tightened enough. Because they could be just (1 in) short, so the exact angle of installation must be precise or it will be forced to loosen and leak.

So there is another thread here with people having some issues with brake line fittings.

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/please-help-rear-brakes.186602/page-2#post-3824096

I have the version sold by @Optimum Performance and the customer service has been great. Despite the fact mine have moved since being installed and need to be adjusted to prevent rubbing, I have no complaints at this point.

First, OP Mustang responded to my email, and when I tagged them here, responded right away and gave tips and advice. After a conversation with my local installer (a race specific shop that specializes in this kind of work) they were actually not surprised as they’ve had the same issue with other Mustangs and they are going to fix the issue Tuesday without additional charge.

I’m not sure if your lines are leaking because of the issues mentioned in the linked thread, if they are, it’s more a crappy Ford assembly issue. If it’s related to the Steeda lines, not the reasons listed in the link, I can recommend the OP lines as they use OEM style fittings, and I’ve had no issues with those.

I will caution, once you get them installed correctly, after a few hundred miles climb under the car and make sure they have not migrated out of position.

That's for a 350 which has different front and rear calipers, different knuckles etc when compared to an M1 ... ?

I'm not questioning that your dealer made them fit, but is there not another kit that's better suited ? (Maybe helping to avoid the OP's problems ?)

Yes, I know Steeda's advert has this note :

But we also know there are very obvious 'mechanical' differences between the models listed ...

Agree with all you said. I’ve IM @tj@steeda hoping to get clarification and guidance. He said in an earlier IM to me that they have installed a kit without any modification or issues on 3 different Mach 1 cars. I’m dropping my car back off at my installer this morning. I need it fixed.

Very clear differences from 'other' manufacturers (if we can trust the photos) :

Sure looks like it. Which means if I got the wrong kit, I’ll need to reinstall the factory lines and all that requires bleed, fluid, etc. then do it all over again once I get the correct parts. Who’s going to pay for all that labor, my time, expensive synthetic brake fluid, etc?

Sadly, unless it was Steeda technicians installed the wrong parts on your car, their only obligation is to replace defective or incorrectly shipped parts. This is unfortunate and is the risk you take doing mods. I've been bitten a few times and have experienced a level of customer service that makes me hesitant to trust any vendors unless it's OEM parts.

Hello,

I have been able to understand & provide the following information:

- We only make two kits. One for MagneRide-equipped cars and one for all other S550
- Part 555-6042 as the customer provided, is for 2016-2020 GT350, 2019-2020 Bullitts equipped with MagneRide, 2021-2023 Mach 1, and 2020-2023 GT500. Which, based on the OP's car - these are the correct brake lines.
- You can see the MR lines, Steeda Mustang MagneRide Braided Stainless Brake Line Kit (2016-2023) has a 90-degree fitting on the banjo end - which it appears your kit has.

Based on our lead technician's assessment - there may be an installation error based on the following: If he is leaking, then when installed, they may not have removed the OE washer where it bolts to the caliper and/or did not chase the threads on the rear lines and damaged the fitting when installing them.

Everything we have reviewed & assessed appears to be the correct parts for your application. If there is further support needed - please call us at 1800 950 0774 & ask for Jamie/Rodney.

Thank you,

TJ

I can't disagree with anything that you've stated. I can only provide what my experience has provided. The dealer just installed them without any modifications. I suspect if there were any issues they would have made that known at the time as I have a great relationship with them.
The car brakes without fade on the track. DOT 4 fluid, two piece rotors, and Hawk pads are huge confidence makers.

The real question for me is if Steeda comes back and says that these will not work or are the wrong lines, what the heck do I do?

OP, hope you cleaned off the brake fluid from all painted surfaces (e.g. wheels and arches) quickly. otherwise, it will strip the paint.

imo, your mechanic should have checked for leaks before releasing the vehicle and if parts don't fit, then don't install them. the amount of leaked fluid looks terrible and unsafe to drive.

I just upgraded my lines to J&M stainless on my GT with Magneride.

First I held up the new lines against the old ones to check that all the details matched.

I found that the banjo bolts had been tightened so hard at the factory that some of the copper washers were severely compressed and some were stuck onto the bolts. I had to use a razor knife to pry them loose, and for the very worst case I had to spin the bolt in a drill while grinding it down with a Dremel and cutoff wheel!

But I've had no leaks thankfully.
