Man, I had my local performance shop swap the rubber for braided on my Mach when they were doing other workthey mentioned no such issues. I feel lucky as hell. And at the same time bad for all the BS you guys had to go through for such a simple swap.

I can’t believe crap like this doesn’t filter back to Ford corporate via the dealership mechanics. Quality is definitely not Job 1 anymore.

Glad you guys were able to work it out and that threads like this exist.
Glad you had no issues. The swap is maybe 5 minutes on the driver side and HOURS each wheel on the passenger side because (I assume) a competent worker did the driver side and a dipshit did the passenger side.

Same deal with mine! I had my local race prep shop install my braided lines and I specifically asked them if they ran into any issues with fitment and they said none. Its unbelievable how bad flat rock has gotten with quality. Sorry you guys had to deal with that, but glad you got it worked out :)

Edit: What year is your mustang? Wonder if they fired the guy that screwed them up lol.

Mine is a 23, maybe they fired the guy lol! I heard Flat Rock shut down a couple months ago to address the quality issues.
I’d prefer to think they gave him a bit of training and he’s a great assemblymen now, but what the hell do I know 😂😂. Yeah I heard the same, I hope they got this sorted and glad yours went so well. Really surprised me to see it on my car and then even more so many others with the same issue…

Once I figured out what the metric size was, it was all of 15 minutes to run the nut on and off a few times. After that, good to go. Thanks to J&M for the fast customer service.

That sucks on the cross threading.

So seeing this post made me go check my lines. It’s interesting because there is about 2-2 1/2” clearance between the lines and the tires, but it looks like there is evidence of very slight rubbing. The lines are smooth, and don’t appear compromised in any way, but there appears to be a very slight amount of darkening on the lines as through the tires are occasionally touching them.

I’m going to contact my installer and have them check it. Maybe @Optimum Performance can weigh in; these are their lines.

The line slides in this bracket. It should be checked upon installation through the full sweep of suspension travel.

Thanks so much for the reply and feedback. I’m going to check with the installer. I appreciate the info.

Is the adjustment made at the bracket you circled or does the line need to be swiveled away from the tire at the block where it meets the hard line?

What’s odd is there is about 2” or so of space between the line and the tire…is the suspension moving so much they can actually make contact?

That's Why we check things, it's how ever the hose lays and twists during suspension travel. The hose can be effectively lengthened and shortened in this bracket, the hose fittings have play and brackets can be slightly bent to make things fit perfectly.

Got it thank you. I’ll follow up with the installer and get this sorted. Appreciate the info.

Having worked with manufacturing, I can see how a temporary worker filling in for vacation or other absences could be the source. A bunch of Mustangs are built over a vacation week's time....so it is understandable that there could be a lot of dissatisfied customers from that one week.

Yeah. Just unfortunate it ends up on something like this. Generally speaking, this is installing and torquing a bolt, likely with a tool set to the correct torque, so it’s threading a bolt. Seems like something most people who own a wrench are capable of doing correctly. Add in that it’s brakes, a serious liability if done wrong, and it seems even more crucial to not have it be a “vacation fill in” spot 😂.

That being said I’m sure you’re right.

Keep in mind that on the S550 there is camber gain throughout the suspension travel due to the IRS. So 2"clearance at ride height may be only 0" in a corner because the hose is the same length, the distance between the 2 mounting points becomes more or less and the hose needs to move (wiggle) to take up that extra length. You can watch this with the tire off and with the car on a lift or jack stands, jack under the control arm and watch what the hose does, it needs to bend more or straighten out to account for the distance change.

Good to know. It’s going back into the shop to get checked. I’ll pass this on to the mechanic, who I have a good relationship with. I’m sure she’ll be able to adjust it. If she can’t figure it out, I’ll reach out to you, but don’t anticipate that’ll be necessary.

Appreciate the follow up, and advice.
