I guess this is more of a de-modding question but the op of my 15 gt installed a spoiler and hood scoop with double sided tape. How can I remove the tape? I know a heat gun will work but I don’t have one. Any other methods?

I'm no expert but if it was me, I'd buy a heat gun as they're handy to have around in addition to being the easiest way to remove that tape. I've removed emblems with dental floss, which if done right, gets most of the tape, and can then try something mild to remove the residue left behind.

recently removed the spoiler on my ‘23 to install the gt500 wing and gurney flap. definitely get yourself a heat gun or a hair dryer even, it’s worth the money. i don’t think i could’ve done it without those. once hot, some fishing line sliced right through the tape. also helped with residue removal. to assist further, purchase some rapid remover adhesive remover. it’s about $30 on amazon but the stuff works like magic

I’ll probably end up getting a heat gun based on what you guys said. I do have a hair dryer but I didn’t think it would work. How much heat can I use without destroying the paint?

keep it on low for sure. you can use more than you would think, at least in my experience. but i’m also very paint-conscious so i was hesitant at first, but that stuff needs to be pretty warm. i used masking tape above and below the spoiler as well for a little extra protection overall - good luck! if you need any help, feel free to hit my dm’s. getting the leftover stuff off took me a hot minute despite all that

go to a sporting goods store and buy some 50 pound BRAID type fishing line. Cut a piece 18 inches long and wrap the ends around two popsicle sticks, then insert it into the seam and “saw” your way through the tape. Remove the rest of the tape with GOOGONE, marinate for about 30 minutes using an eyedropper and the tape will come off easily.

Braided fishing line or plastic packing strap you get on large boxes, and some isopropyl alcohol.

I'd recommend a hair dryer. You can easily damage your paint with a heat gun.

Take your time.

recently had a removal and I used 25 lb fishing line.

Once the spoiler was removed I used these to remove the 3m tape : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FJF0O2K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
and these

finished the cleanup with Goo Gone and isopropyl... a gentle buff with a cleaner wax and then a polish.

I used one of these to remove the tape after I took off my spoiler. It is the fastest and easiest just be careful when using it as to fast of speed with the drill can burn the paint of your car.

I’ve used one of those drill attachments before with great results.

So most of the tape is off the trunk, there’s only like a 1’’ section on each pedestal. I read that fishing line can scratch the paint that’s why I didn’t mention it but if you guys have used it without issue I’ll give it a go. I have some line lying around I could use.

I would just soak it in a "citris" adhesive remover, like Goo Gone. I wasn't brave enough to use the drill eraser wheel, but worked fine using a plastic scraper.

Heat gun on low is fine (same goes for a hair dryer), just don’t concentrate on one area, keep the heat gun moving. When the tape feels warms you should be able to roll most of it up with your thumb. Adhesive remover that is safe for automotive paint (plenty to pick from) for the rest.

I used a steam cleaner with a nozzle and fishing line, had the factory spoiler off in 2 minutes.
