Hello, I bought a different spoiler and need to remove the factory blade one.
How do you remove it after removing the nuts, to release the double sided tape without scratching the deck lids paint. I'd like to not trash the stock spoiler in case I don't like the new one after it is on the car.
Thank you.

Heat gun to loosen up the adhesive and start pulling.
Some people use floss or fishing line to pull the piece off the car.

When I removed my factory PP spoiler to put my wing on, I just used a heat gun and gently/slowly pulling the spoiler up.

Like others mentioned, a heat gun and patience. Or, depending on how hot it gets in your area, let the sun bake it and then pull on it.

I've used a piece of 35lb test braided fishing line in the past and it worked great.

Rubber wheel attachment for your drill.

Takes some patience, but once you get it down it works like a charm.

I use fishing line like mentioned to cut the tape. Then an eraser wheel in a cordless drill makes short work of any left over tape. Last is a good polish with a buffer and compound.

Careful using a plastic trim tool to pry, if not careful the trunk lid dents fairly easy. Fishing line, heat gun and patience.

When you take the spoiler off and put the new one on be careful and angle the trunk lid so the screws/bolts do not fall into the trunk lid and you never find them. Use magnetic tools if possible.

Im sorry to say but this is TERRIBLE advice to give someone. You can damage your paint very quickly like this if you don't know what your doing. A heat gun and some elbow grease will get the tape off without damaging your paint. It doesn't take much heat to be able to start rolling it up with your fingers any residue can be removed with Goo Gone.

As for the rubber wheel and drill you can very quickly burn through your paint and leave swirl marks that are very hard to get out. You should never use a drill to polish your paint either. You want to use a orbital polisher on paint.

Sorry to say but Ive done this TWICE and it worked like a charm both times. No one said anything about "polishing paint with a drill" the corner of the rubber wheel is very precise, all you have to do is hit the leftover adhesive with the edge.

The goo gone helps, but it simply doesnt do the job. You will have leftover adhesive that wont come off.
I spent over an hour using "elbow grease" the first time too. The wheel just simply worked better

With the right chemical, it's not necessary to use mechanical means. Although, if that's what you have... Just be careful. A dab of Citrol on a microfiber towel will go through that adhesive like it's a joke though.

Then you can use it for bugs on the front bumper, road tar, or even graffiti. So many uses. Just be sure to clean the residue off with a detailer spray once you're done using it. It's hardcore, and you don't want it to stay on the paint long term.
