Yeah, I did it as part of an install of an air intake elbow (that removed the air tube connection), mostly wanted all that cleaned up (it's amazing, the amount of shit that comes out with the sound tube).

However, I did actually notice some weird harmonic sound disappeared, that was introduced when I had my stock intake (and tube), and added my Mach Thunder exhaust.

I used this one:

Yup!

I would always recommend doing this with an aftermarket exhaust.

What are the advantages of removing this tube? Is it purely aesthetic?
I often wonder this myself. All this to remove the sound intended by Ford and install cai and say ooh I can hear intake noise. 😂😂😂

FYI.......I was under the car a couple weeks back and I couldn't even see the stud or the Sound Tube.....very tight area under there!!

I guess I'll rip mine out when the time comes too!!

LOL, love a good thread resurrection :) That said, I ripped my sound tube out (literally, yanked it out) not long after getting the car. For me combined with the strut tower brace, it's in the way of the dipstick to check the oil.. And it looks better without it.

Absolutely :) No way I could get my big fat arms down in there to take that nut off with the tube in place. I ripped the top piece off first (the big can beside the dipstick) then I just reached as low as I could, twisted and jerked it out. Was harder than I thought but it came right out. Once the tube was out I had just enough room to reach down there and pop the grommet in to seal up the hole. Only a couple of scratches on the back of my arm, a small blood sacrifice was worth it to be able to check my oil more efficiently. :)

Yeah I'll be removing mine today. I don't have a strut tower brace so I'll just dip in there with a long extension & remove nut while also adding the plug.
