^^Listen to this guy. This was my post from a previous thread on the topic:
One of these worked perfect for me to plug the hole in the firewall:

And one of these to cap the whole in the stock air intake:

I have the PP with the braces. For the nut removal, I removed the sound tube from the air intake to swing it out of the way as much as possible. Then I used a 10mm ratcheting wrench and snaked my arm (tight fit!) from the front between the coil cover and the fender well to reach it. I didn't have to lay across the front like the other poster, but was able to do so from the side fender. Once the wrench was on, there was room behind the motor to swing the wrench to remove the nut. Once the sound tube is off, the firewall hole is easy to reach and plug.
lol so we didn't remove that worthless piece :doh:Why is the stud 10x longer than it needs to be?
I used a 10mm flex head ratchet wrench to get the nut off. Took a while, but it wasn't too bad.Well got the tube out last night...no tools at all, and all I had to do was loosen the strut tower slightly. I used the twist method as suggested, and it popped right out. Didnt break any plastic tabs or anything...and it looks like the part around the 10mm bolt just kind of released itself from the tube when I twisted it...Now having said that, getting the plug in when I get my Blowfish kit in looks like thats going to be the hard part. I can move that brake line a little and hopefully fish my hand down without dropping the plug. Was very surprised how easy the tube came out...but I do applaud anyone who used wrenches/extensions/etc to loosen it...
The only real noticeable difference is the unsightly clutter that goes away with the sound tube. I personally did not notice any sound volume difference. I prefer the cleaner look of the delete.Someone else asked this earlier but I didn't see a clear answer and am curious myself. I've heard of lots of people removing the sound tube but what is the benefit of doing this? Just wondering. Is it just to get rid of excess induction noises? I guess at least with our GT's, it's actual engine sound and not a soundtrack coming through the speakers...
Yeah, I did it as part of an install of an air intake elbow (that removed the air tube connection), mostly wanted all that cleaned up (it's amazing, the amount of shit that comes out with the sound tube). The only real noticeable difference is the unsightly clutter that goes away with the sound tube. I personally did not notice any sound volume difference. I prefer the cleaner look of the delete.
I used this one:I keep seeing different firewall plugs to use 1" - 1&1/2". Can anybody say what size hole is actually in the firewall?
