How the heck did you get that nut on the firewall off? I can get my hand to it, but thats about it. Curious as to how you all did it.

I used a ratcheting box wrench,10 mm, with flex head, with my left hand. I could move the wrench about 1/5 of a turn each time I moved the nut. So it took a long time to get the nut off. I purchased the Husky brand at Home Depot, less than $10. Ask neighbors if they have one.

I'll try one of those. Neighbor doesnt have the right size so I'll just get one from Home Depot.

A few extensions and swivel/joint sockets is what I used.

I just twisted the tube a couple of times and the plastic tab that holds it to the firewall stretched enough to just pull the tube out, lol. Not the most professional, but it took 10 seconds and I knew I'd never put it back on.
This. Just lift the entire tube to the sky and give it a good twist, it should pop off after a few tries.

I ripped the tube out with brute force and used a racheting wrench to get the nut off after. I somehow didn't have a problem getting my arm in there. The cabin air filter replacement is a much bigger sonuvabitch imo

Tried this and it worked like a charm. I did try getting the bolt off with a wrench like above, but I still couldn't get in there good enough.

I also just ripped mine out and left the bolt. Didn't take more than 20 lbs of force.

Never touched it. Ripped it out and left it, but plugged the hole.

I used 1/4" ratchet, longer extension, swivel and deep well socket. Came right off. Could'nt tell you the sound difference with and without, but not having that crap tube under the hood cleans it up and makes things easier to reach if needed.

I got my wife with her tiny hands to reach in there and undo the nut. Not a fan of the rip and tear method of deconstruction.

I also think it makes the cabin noticeably queiter. Not huge, but definitely better imo.
I guess it all depends on one's ears.
