I put some in my wife’s Jeep once, since it’s already tuned for E85. It ran ok and about 2 pennies less per gallon than regular unleaded ethanol gas. But I do not run less than 93 octane in my GT.
We have to hunt for 93 out here in commifornia...91 is all she gets :(

I found this and still don’t get it. Especially the lower price.

https://unl88.com/
I was out of town recently and happened upon this "UNL88" stuff. Did my research later which agrees with the link above, but...

I don't feel like paying for premium all the time (I therefore won't be doing any tunes), and I find the +400 HP my Mustang gets with 87 is plenty.

Searched "UNL88" on this forum and this was the only thread that popped up. Time to resurrect the thread:

Has anyone here consistently ran UNL88?
Anything good to report?
Anything bad to report?
Any other observations?

I'm liking the idea of cheaper fuel with the added bonus of a 1 point bump in octane with allegedly no down side to doing this...

I realize many folks are more concerned about price than fuel mileage when they are at the pump, but increased ethanol content does negatively affect fuel mileage. Of course with the government promoting domestic corn demand for ethanol, costs are lower at the pump generally when ethanol is added. On the other hand, the basic economic principle of supply vs. demand explains why corn related food products increase in price, because the supply for that is diminished when corn output is diverted to fuel purposes. So we have a double-whammy so-to-speak...lower fuel mileage and higher food costs.

E85 isn't UNL88

Not sure if you're referring to me or the original poster from 2022. And did you mean E85 or E15 (UNL88)?

I personally didn't recall seeing ULN88 before. I was in the Cincinnati area when I saw it. After I got home from my trip, I looked up availability in my area on Gas Buddy -- only 2 locations had it (same gas station owner). But close enough to me I'd consider it if it doesn't hurt my car. I was just wondering who else runs it.

This is the correct answer.

Expect you’ll pay a little less for a tank but also get less gas mileage and range. Your car will auto adjust the fuel trim and feed a little more because it needs to flow more fuel with ethanol content gas. Its more dramatic with E85, but same story here at a lower octane and lower ethanol mixtue.

So is it still a net win on fuel economy? No probably not.

I agree. I'm not convinced we should be dipping into our food supply to augment our fuel supply. I'd have to see a scientific study on how much more 100% gasoline pollutes than any gas/alcohol blend ( I suspect not that much). I also know that alcohol doesn't possess the same energy as gas (and thus the poorer fuel economy). But the advocates for UNL88 say there's hardly any difference in mileage (but didn't cite any proof in the article, go figure). And then there's the extra octane point, coupled with the lower price. Both of those give me pause.
Bottom line is it appears there's not too many folks on here that run UNL88 a bunch, so I'm not so sure I'll be so anxious now to run UNL88.

Yeah IDK about the food angle. Frankly yall dont need to be eating that mich corn anyway.

As for the fuel, the difference between E85 at the pump and E85R race gas is the 15% which is gas fuel is much higher quality. The ethanol part is the same (its just straight ethanol)

With that 88, most of it is gasoline, so I’d be 88 percent conerned about the quality of the regular gas in it.

Me I switch between 93 and E85. I didnt buy a mustang to put decaffinated tea in it.

Actually the 88 is what threw him, not the E85. I've never seen 88 at a pump, either. But then I purchase gas mostly at Costco.
Sheetz has 88 next to the E85.
