RJ: I don't think that is what he meant. My understanding of the post is just that pulling both paddles doesn't accomplish the exact same event(s) even if it does accomplish the same task. I guess in simple terms, they're two different "transmission modes."
Oh, thanks! Makes sense.

There is a power button to turn off the stereo
Jaime: I'm laughing so hard at my own stupidity..just went out and looked at the audio controls and yep, RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE is a Power button! Dear Lord I can be a dunce all too often.

Thanks, dude.

I had to go look at both cars. The GT350 has the audio power button in middle of the volume button. So easy to find.
The GT500 has a separate button in the middle of the other controls. Not sure why they did that! I wouldn’t have thought to look there.

Thanks Jaime. <smiling> And Don, now I don't feel QUITE as badly. No doubt it was B&O's decision not to enable power via a push button volume control. No big deal but I'm still surprised at what B&O did since the near standard has been the other way.

And, for those ordering, the B&O system in the 2020 Tech Package doesn't sound any better, at least in a CFTP with rear delete, than the system in my '14, maybe not even as good. That was my first and only disappointment so far.

I just went with the base audio system as it wasn’t worth $3K to me to upgrade plus the 100 #’s of junk in the trunk.
Strangely enough, I am super impressed with the base audio system. It is so much better than the base audio in my GT350. It’s almost as good as the audio in my ‘09 GT500KR.

Don: We must be on the same wavelength today <grin> because I just read the same thing in the Supplement and tried it! WAY KEWELL!

(I also learned about the little drawer to the left of the column. I bet I would have missed that for months or years if I hadn't started reading.)

So Don, I forget, did you get the tech package? If not, does your volume button kill the power with a push? With the B&O rig, you have to turn the darn volume all the way counterclockwise like back in the '60's to kill the power. Granted, the mute button will accomplish a nearly identical result but still. I mean, what's up with that?
what drawer do you speak of?

it depends on the music you listen to and have to customize it. mine sound flat until i moved it around. and then, its very different at higher volumes, in my opinion

I, too am disappointed in the sound. Miles away from my 2013 (also B&O) Audi which was great out of the box. Turned the base up but that's it so far, will try other adjustments.

Maybe there will be a plug and play sound upgrade available from the aftermarket, with the tech package all the connections should already be there.

OTOH, I am pleasantly surprised with the alcantara steering wheel. Thought I wouldn't like it after getting used to nappa leather but it's kinda nice.

@Deviruchi : Roger on the Beemer B&O sounding better. I don't know if rear seat delete has anything to do with it but there doesn't seem to be a lot of rear "presence."

And I too was surprised how much I like the alcantara on the steering wheel but I think I like the Recaros in my '14 better than these with alcantara under your butt. :-)

I've also decided that I don't want the tach "HUD" on all the time, the little yellow dots at low RPM are distracting. Sure wish it had a real HUD..

Aside from those beefs, I continue to be amazed by the transmission and handling. The gearbox is a work of art and the car feels glued to the road.

If you guys don’t like the B&O be glad you didn’t have the Sony system in the 15-18 Fords. The B&O blows it out of the water in my opinion.

This is my third S550 and the interior is my favorite. Well, except for the steering wheel, that I swapped for perforated and smooth leather because of how the alcantara mats down after some time. That and I like smooth leather under my hands.

Steve: There's a small, push-to-open drawer for glasses just to the left of the steering column.

As for the audio, you're correct, I didn't adjust anything so I'll give that a whirl, thanks.
My 2015 5.0 and 2016 GT350 had a glasses holder on left also.

As I recall, the default setting on the HUD was 3,000 RPM. Way to low to be useful and was distracting. Once I reset it to 7,300, all is good.
