It’s also an easy way to rev the engine while harassing the neighbors. :like:
What! What is this superpower you speak of? That's what I miss about the manual. This is my first paddles. You are saying I pull on both paddles to go into neutral and can rev while moving?

Yep! It's a brilliant feature! I use it often to get the attention of certain other vehicles. lol!

And, as StangMode pointed out, as did Pheed Spenom, if you're in a roll race environment, simply holding the left paddle down will bring the DCT to the optimum gear for the RPM. I find that quite smart but I've been told it's been done by many other companies as well.
I use this feature a lot as well! They really did think of everything with this DCT.

Thanks! SO, if i'm in regular Drive mode, I hold down left paddle to go into neutral, rev, then release will put me in manual...basically?

No, for neutral, simply pull both paddles in and hold them, regardless of mode as far as I know. As long as you hold them in, you'll be in neutral and can rev to your hearts desire.

The other trick is downshifting for roll racing or just having fun. Pull the left paddle in for 3 seconds, release, and the car will shift to the lowest optimal gear.

The different drive modes are constantly learning your driving habits. I know this because 1- the manual says so,2- everytime i flash the car, the characteristics change back. IE. its relearning. I for one love the more firm crisp, less "comfortable " shift characteristics. Of a fresh relearn.
ALSO- very important for the longevity,
If you are stopped, keep yoir foot on the brake , or do the nuetral paddle thing. If you are stopped and neither, the clutxhes are engaged. Applying break they are not

As I understand it, holding both paddles unlocks the clutches so neither is engaged. It does not put the car in neutral. You have to turn the dial to select neutral.
I mean, its kind of the same effect. But more akin to pushing in the clutch pedal than shifting into neutral on a manual.

One other feature that I found by accident is that if you open the drivers door (with the seatbelt off), the car shifts into Park! The knob on the center console actually rotates (moves) to Park on its own.
Next time you are sitting still in Drive, open the door (with seatbelt off) and see what happens.
I was putting my car on my lift and opened the door to check alignment with the lift and it happened.... I was stopped at the time, but it got my attention. Not sure what it does if you are moving. Someone else can try that!
Corrections: I see from the Supplement (page 18) that if you switch the car to off, or open the drivers door with the seatbelt unlatched, it will shift into Park. If you are moving greater than 3 MPH, it will initially shift into Neutral until below 3 MPH, then into Park.

Yup, idiot proof. For now that is lol.

Don: We must be on the same wavelength today <grin> because I just read the same thing in the Supplement and tried it! WAY KEWELL!

(I also learned about the little drawer to the left of the column. I bet I would have missed that for months or years if I hadn't started reading.)

So Don, I forget, did you get the tech package? If not, does your volume button kill the power with a push? With the B&O rig, you have to turn the darn volume all the way counterclockwise like back in the '60's to kill the power. Granted, the mute button will accomplish a nearly identical result but still. I mean, what's up with that?

Not sure it make sense to have it in paddle mode and have to turn dial to neutral. Then having to dial it back to drive just to rev. That is too much and too many factors for mistake.

Yes, my Edge ST also goes to park when you push off button or open door. And, car will no go into drive if I leave it running. It needs key in car.

Kent, there is a power delay that will turn everything off after a few minutes or just open the door and it kills everything. No need to go through the steps you did.

RJ: I don't think that is what he meant. My understanding of the post is just that pulling both paddles doesn't accomplish the exact same event(s) even if it does accomplish the same task. I guess in simple terms, they're two different "transmission modes."

Thanks, Jaime but I did a poor job of esplaining my beef. What I was talking about is when the engine is running and/or you're moving and want to kill the audio. I'm much more in the habit of just pushing the volume button in our other vehicles than I am searching for the mute button on the steering wheel. Obviously, it's a stupid beef, just annoying to moi.

You don’t turn the dial, just hold the paddles, which is similar to pushing the clutch pedal in on 3 pedal cars. He was saying to truly be in neutral the switch needs to be in neutral.
