The seat has got to be crazy tight for a decent sized cop with a duty belt on.

I believe I’ve seen a few posts either here and/or on social that Georgia State Police have a bunch of S650’s.

Crown Vic’s and Chargers were the norm here for quite a while. Most departments have moved to Explorers now.

I used to have an Explorer sport. White with black accent package. Looked just like a cop car. It was awesome. Hauled ass too.

Yep… the Fox Mustang 1982-1993 was the first Mustang for Police use. These were mainly used for high speed pursuits, not the “transporting” of perps…. There are very few around today; many were converted to race cars after being auctioned off, or some met their fate after being owned by the public who wrecked them, or they were parted out.. Many of the original SSP’s stay in hands of collectors who have returned them back to their original livery, colors, and sometimes period correct equipment. Many of the SSP’s remain within a small circle of dedicated SSP Enthusiasts. Some of the restored to in-service units have even made it to a few Mecum auctions and scored good $$$. I’m one of the lucky ones to also own one (from TX).

If any of you have not ever seen this vid, it’s of some original Mustang SSP pursuits:

One of the greatest jobs a Mustang SSP ever had was being chase support for the US Air Force U2 Spy Plane. These SSP’s were used here and abroad over in Germany if I remember correctly. There is only (1) surviving SSP U2 Chase car:

Missouri used to run the fox bodies. Currently Greene County has several S550 pursuit cars. They are STOCK 301 GT A10's.

it's not stock. it's got cop motor, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. No catalytic converter so it still runs good on regular gas.
Love this - thanks for the throw back.

This comment is hilarious.

In modern terms…

“Cop Motor” - It’s got a PP 1, 2, or 3 tune and supporting parts depending on Ford P/N.

“Cop Tires” - Those are the crappy Pirelli’s that the PP1 come with. You can see it in the picture.

“Cop Suspension, Cop Shocks” - It’s got the track handling package (still pretty soft)

All these are Ford P/N’s easily applied at the factory or even at the stealership.

As for the no catalytic converter comment, if that state has emissions regulations and has state ref’d anyone for LTH’s then that is the biggest lawsuit and let me grab my popcorn.🍿
