I have a 2020 GT PP a10 (4K miles), part of me what’s to go with a PBD flex fuel tune but another part of me thinks I should wait, just in case I end up needing warranty work.

I’ll probably go with a Whipple in the next year or two. Should I just wait and do it all at once or is a NA tune worth the risk of losing out on the warranty this early in the game?

If you are not worried about warranty the flex tune will wake up the car and add smiles to your face.

I would say no to a tune if you do not get a flex, unless you get the FRPP tune and that is really not worth the costs IMO of course.

It really comes down to how much you're married to that warranty and how badly you'd like to go faster. I very much recommend aftermarket tuning even just for N/A but particularly if you have access to E85. If you decide to forgo the warranty and tune it N/A before the boost, make sure and get the headers done at the same time. Headers + E85 + Tuning will get you in the neighborhood of 500rwhp.

You can see I have the 3 standard parts, a jazzy looking intake, a good cat-back, and a Lund stock tune. My car is a daily driver, mostly in areas it never sees 6th gear, but a couple of times a week it can be a rocket for the I10 on ramp. Around town, it will crawl through gears with 3-4k shifts and have you going plenty fast in no time. After owning 2 months, and getting used to it, I'm 100% happy with it. I do not plan on drag strip or track, so I think performance-wise she is done. Looks great and drives great in the PP2 package, so the next step is likely upgrading the speakers. There is a very good dyno tune shop in town, I may go to them one day to eek that little bit out, but the car is so loud now I don't think Ill do headers, and I don't have much E85 availability.

Long story short, tinker with it until you are happy while understanding warranty concerns. My honda was the same way, I tuned it and put a borla on it, and it would fly. I don't intentionally do burnouts either, so not going to sweat the warranty, and I baby it when cold. I also drive less than 10k miles a year.

if you are just doing a tune for now, I would probably hold off on it and keep your warranty as to me, the small gains wouldn't be worth the warranty. if that was the route you are taking I would focus on supporting mods first. suspension, tires, etc. then once you are ready for more power like being boosted, go for it. if your goal is to throw a supercharger on there eventually, I would 100% do suspension and wheels/tires first and then get the supercharger and tune together when you are ready.

if you plan on going FBO soon, and doing flex/e85..then yeah..that might be a bit more worth it

definitely worth it once you go forced induction.

You just have to decide how valuable the warranty is to you.

Go ahead and install LT headers and tune it For E85! I don’t think it’s very likely that you will have trouble out of the engine if you go with a reputable tuner. If something else breaks, just remember the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

You can still tune and keep your warranty. Fords tunes ad a few ponies. I’m a go big or go home kinda guy. I’d do a Lund or PBD e85 tune. Oh and some type of supercharger!!!:like:

I’m on the fence with mine as well. If I had E85 locally the decision would be a little easier. The car isn’t really a priority right now, so it’ll probably be a while before I go forced induction. I may end up just getting a 93 tune and "free flowing exhaust” one day soon and call it good for now. I have a couple neighbors I need to piss off when I leave for work.

The only thing I’d be worried about would be the motor and tranny, the Magnuson Moss act won’t help me if it’s tuned and I had an issue with either the motor or tranny since both would be affected by the tune. I may just say screw it and go with it.

Like you I'm on the fence right now. I bought the extended warranty so that makes me lean towards keeping the warranty in tack. But I am putting the Ford performance tune on it.
What I like to call the ford bullitt tune. Now I realize this could squash my extended warranty but I doubt ford wants to prove their parts caused the failure. My dealer told me that any other type of aftermarket tune would void the warranty but they said there not in the business of screwing their customers so they said if you return it to the stock tune there not going to be looking to cause problems again if it's a major failure and a ford rep gets involved that changes everything. So I guess for now I'm going with the ford tune and when my 36000 miles rolls around I may just put a procharger stage 2 kit on it not to make it a track car just to make it fun. I've already done wheels, tires and a bunch of steeda suspension parts. The extended warranty will still be good on all but the drivetrain. I still have more steeda parts to get but there's time for that. Good luck in whatever you decide to do and enjoy your car.

That’s what I said. I installed LT headers high flow catted mid-pipes and an x-pipe with Lund 93, Flex and E85R tunes on my 2019 Bullitt with just 471 miles on the odometer. Car feels great and I am happy with my decision to have it tuned. Next up, I’ll be installing a 150 shot of nitrous and working with Lund again for the nitrous tuneup.

As some others have said, if you are worried about the potential for needing the drivetrain warranty, then wait. If you plan on forced induction in the next year or so and want to do something now, I agree with the suggestion of doing supporting mods in the meantime like chassis/suspension and tires. The money spent on the tune will be a waste in a year once you get retuned for boost.

E85 tune and headers are the best bang for the buck. A highly recommended and potent combination. We've got some unbeatable deals on headers right now and can easily package them up with a custom tuned PBD Ngauge.

I personally don't feel you should be worried about the warranty with just bolt-ons like that but that's just my opinion. I'm basing this off of our personal experience with our 2018 GT which we went 8's with only having done OPG's and a crank sprocket for engine mods.

Feel free to give us a shout and we'll be glad to assist you.

On my 2015 I modded it as soon as I picked it up. I did have to bring it in for a simple A/C fix and they covered it under warranty. I would enjoy the car as much as you can and not worry about losing the warranty but that's just my personal opinion. Give me a shout and I can get you set up on some go fast parts here from www.lethalperformance.com!
