Sorry if this has been discussed to death, but I can't find any comparisons of the v6 and i4 car...

When the v6 was the base model in the previous gen, I recall that with a track pack (which no longer exists for the v6 it seems) it was spanking evos and stis around a track (might have been willow springs?) in a mag review.

I am due for a new daily and like the no hassle idea of a v6 over the boosted i4. I own FI cars and while fun - I wouldn't daily one. Ever.

So, is the eco that much better of a car that no-one but Hertz should buy V6 any more, or what's the consensus?

Input (even links to this very forum) very much appreciated.
Search functions on forums are kinda... useless.
I've driven maybe 15 or so mustangs over the last month... no, don't own one yet.

Eco: The car is fast. Does not sound that great but not terrible either. Can't get around it is a 4... my current car is a 4 so I'm not knocking 4s at all. Can get in premium interior. Push it to the floor and it feels amazing. Driving along and push, you can feel the turbo kick in.... that is such a rush. You can feel the turbo.

6: Great engine over the 4. I love the pull, sound and feel of the 6. My gut tells me Ford is killing a great engine by pushing the 4. It is a business decision, consolidation. Whatever you want to call it.

8: Wow... nothing much to be said here. Can't drive an 8 without a smile on your face. Only issue with me was it felt heavy in the front.... but sure if I owned one, it would feel great after the first mile. I though the new accord 6 felt heavy in the front... so take that comment with a grain. The 6 mustang did not feel heavy though...

My general "feeling" is that the 4 fits me simply because it feels light and I want that premium interior. If I could get the premium interior for the same price in a 6, I'd get the 6. I had leather and now don't... I want leather again. I don't think the 4 is a bad engine in the Mustang.... I'm going to get a 4, but I'd rather purchase a 6. Then again, can't wait to get the turbo in the mountains.... lol

Everyone is different. And they are all great cars. Hats off to Ford.

Thanks for the write up.

When getting the 15' Mustang i would of been fine with a V6 but wanted it in Premium and the performance package and didn't want to spend much more than 30K but unfortunately the premium and PP is not offered in the V6. As long as the Mustang has at least 300 HP that is enough power for me for my driving application so i wasn't interested in the GT. For my parameters the Ecoboost had what i was looking for in a 15' Mustang. If they offered the V6 with premium interior and PP i would of ordered one over the Ecoboost any day.

Makes PERFECT sense! Congrats on your car.

Both... in all... even compared the stick and auto performance packages. Except for the 8... that was manual only. And one car.

I grew up on a stick (three on column) and now my car is a 5 speed. But I like the mustang in an auto. I'm in DC so traffic is a "small" issue at times. I'm going to pay more for the auto... plus you get auto start with the auto... something that helps when it is cold outside.

The auto feels smoother to me... matches the interior of the premium. Or you could say that I don't shift worth a damn... and that is fair as well (driven a stick for over 10 years in my current car and around 40 years my total life... but every car is different).

I think you have to test drive each one..

Only on days that end with "y", night time, day time, and holidays. And I still chose a stick. FML. :-)

My current stick was cool... until I moved up from the country to here. Get tired of shifting. I have one car... but it is really a fun car since I walk/metro it during the week.

GT owner here. If I didn't get the V8 I was gonna buy the eco boost. Modablility is the key factor I looked at. Went with the V8 because if I have 435 at the crank, that's more then enough for me. Hell the car can roast tires in second and third gear.
Do what makes you happy. Don't have buyers remorse and enjoy the pony.

Which sticks have you ridden that have given you a hard time?
This forum is not the place to have a discussion.
So won't go there. The Mustang would be my 26th car. Around 20 of which were / are sticks.
So please, just let it go.
