I don't think they could sell the EB at the same price as the V6. I think the V6 is here purely to start at under $24,000. The thing is though, it's still a great engine that it still has enough advantages to be more attractive over the eco to a lot of people.

I feel like Ford is pretty all in on ecoboost so they force most non-GT buyers into it. Oh well it is what it is, at least it's still here. Niche engine for people like me who just don't want a turbo car.
It's all about CAFE numbers. Ford is helped a lot more by having EBs than V6s when it comes to CAFE numbers. Face it, a V8 is REQUIRED as an option for a Mustang, so if you want to get a decent CAFE number for the model, you need to push the EBs - those few MPGs really do help out.

It's all about the CAFE rating. So try to slowly kill the V6 market and replace it with the EBs instead which, over the long term, will give Ford more flexibility in its total CAFE budget.

People can easily get used to upgrades that others find unnecessary. It's one of those "can't miss what you've never had" type of thing that justifies the absence of some upgrades.
Once you get used to Power Windows, Power Door Locks and A/C there is no going back to crank windows, stretching over to lock or unlock doors or sweltering in Summer heat. As far as Cruise Control, if you live nearby a heavily traveled Interstate with constant stop & go traffic, you will hardly miss not having it since its disengaged most of the time anyway.

Exactly. We know why Ford is doing it. They want to strip it to force you up into their EB engine. It's a ---- move.
Well, it was (almost) a "deal breaker" for me cause I hate Black interior, be it cloth or leather but I wasn`t going to be forced to pay a 6K upgrade to get a Premium Trim Convertible with both leather interior and an EB 2.3 I4 that I didn`t want so I ultimately settled for a Base V6 Convertible in Race Red with the optional 051A Package, Spare Tire, an 13D Spoiler Delete and have learned to live with the Ebony Black cloth interior.

Get this man a reward. He figured out what ford made public about 5 years ago!

That's exactly the reason. Originally there wasn't even going to be a v6 but fleet and rental companies went nuts. So ford continued the v6 for a while.
Yeah, and ask most Ford Dealerships what S550 Mustangs move off their lot the quickest in both Fastback/Coupe and Convertible Trim, the Base V6. So much for strictly a Fleet/Rental commodity.

They are trying to use ford decision against them now. Trying to take advantage of what they see as a bad decision. Only time will tell if it was right or not.

I agree with fords direction and philosophy but I would have done it different. I would not have charged more for the EB. Made base price for EB and v6 same. Your choice. But still limited the v6 to base model only to drive the decision to the EB. But, I'm not a corporate officer so I probably have the wrong idea lol

Thanks! I do love my WW. I wasn't so sure about it when I ordered it (was going to get a loaded yellow gt when offered this car) but I don't regret it now. I love it the second I saw it in person.
Whats not to like about Wimbledon White especially compared to Oxford White, Ford`s 3 decade old utility truck paint color. Boring.........?

Don't know about that. The dealers in my area only have EBs and GTs on the lot and most are Premium. Dealers want to sell the cars they can make the most profit on and the V6 isn't it.

Depends on the region.

Where I live, (outskirts of North Los Angeles County) we have 2 dealerships that have 1 or 2 GTs with a whole load of ECOs and zero v6s. Approximately 60 mile down south from me is the largest volume dealership in the world; they sell more v6s than GT or the ECO. People come from all over looking for a v6 cause they have at least 20 to 30 in stock at any given time. No doubt the V6s sell like hotcakes and is making Ford some money.

Where can one find the sales by type demographics for Mustangs? Let's see if I can wrap my aged brain around this; Ford says they're phasing the V-6 out...then on the 6G rollout Ford leaves the V-6 at home...then Ford is hesitant to provide V-6s to car media to review...Only conclusion I can deduce...You can't keep a good engine down! LOL.

Thanks, our Mustang is selling wonderfully. And hopefully, 2016 will continue sales progress. Now I wonder how many are being sold abroad. And finally, if we could get some sales numbers by engine choice. I guess Ford will make such a final accounting for sales stats when the 2015 model year ends...or I hope they do.

No cars on the lot could mean they are hot sellers. To be honest, a dealer just wants to sell cars. If he can upsell a pricier one, great. But in the end a sale is a sale.

Correct..Chevy/Camaro are going to bank on people believing that the 4 should be the base/eco/mpg conscious model and that the 6 is going to want to go to someone who wants good performance and who doesn't want/need a V8 for any reason while still getting decent MPG. Even better, they went with cylinder deactivation in both the V6 and V8 so even if you go up to the SS trim, you are now getting a hell of a performance engine/car AND the ability to get good MPG while cruising. Chevy really put a shot over the bow of our S550 and honestly I hope Ford responds 10 fold in the '17.

I see more V6s on the road around here in NOVA/DC then anything else. Seen 2 GTPP and 1 EBPP and that's it. Saw a EB in Annapolis the other day. Barely see any on the road still. I'm surprised.

Lanham Ford's big seller is the V6. The carry more of those then anything else.

Yah, Ford doesn't want an apple to apple's comparison of the V6 to EB. They even de-tuned it supposedly. The only way that is going to happen is by someone allowing a magazine to get a 51A V6 and a base EB and put them through the review. I think Camaro will benefit from Ford's poor decision on the V6.

One guy in Post #128 states that the V-6 is selling well on the West Coast( California). And another guy in Post#133 reports that the V-6 is selling well on the East Coast(Maryland)...would it be a stretch to say that the V-6 is selling well "Coast to Coast"?

Maybe...we just have a limited data set. Would be nice to know the true break down somehow.
