You know what cracks me up... people who buy a performance vehicle and or truck and then ask about MPG. I hear it and see it on other forums too.

If you are "concerned" about MPG = Don't buy performance vehicle with a V8 engine or don't buy a truck, jeep, or full sized SUV.

My Ecoboost F150 I owned got about 10mpg after adding a 4" lift kit, tires, while towing a boat. I got about 14 driving around town and to work....

Everyone on the F150 forums was complaining about mpg... I bought my truck for the HP and towing capability without the need to buy a large diesel which I didn't want. MPG wasn't even a thought and that was when gas was $4 a gallon. Getting 16-17 driving the Mustang with gas under $3 is like driving a Toyota Prius for me.

If you are concerned about gas, you can't afford a car.
People may not like to hear it but this is the truth. I suppose he meant to say afford THIS car, not any car at all.

The point is dont buy a 400+hp V8 and expect good gas mileage. That's why they make a V6 and Ecoboost that are the same car but better mpg engines.

Im only averaging 13.5mpg for the life of the car- 5500 miles in the last 1.5 years (low mileage driver but literally all city is why so low) and couldn't care less about 5-6 more miles per gallon for the enjoyment the car gives me.

I have 3.73 gears and 17mpg over the cars lifetime (2500 miles) with mixed city/hwy driving. I can get about 21mpg on mostly highway trips.

I'm usually seeing 18-19 per tank with generally mixed driving. I've seen as low as 16 and as high as 22, it all just depends on how heavy my foot is for a period of time. I go through phases haha.

It's also completely flat where I live. I grew up in Pittsburgh and was there a few weeks ago visiting family. I rented an Explorer and found myself using the paddles quite often to kick down a gear or two to make it up hills the way I wanted because the automatic didn't seem to do it itself. Hills definitely take their toll on mileage.

LOL dude you're averaging higher than the EPA estimate for city driving. You're good. Enjoy the car.

I generally average 20-22mpg per tank with an A6/3.15. It actually surprised me that it has gotten consistently over 20 mpg. That's about to change though. I went with the 3.15 because I thought it would be a better gear for a supercharged car. If it averages 15 with a Procharger, I'll be happy. If it doesn't, I'll still be happy.

Bought mine last weekend. Since then, I've put a touch under 400 miles on it.

Mixed driving with about 60 city and 40 highway; trip 1 shows 14.7 since new. This does include the 120 miles that were on the car when I took ownership.

Since then my best has been about 18... which was more than 50% highway.

I'll be doing a drive down to LA in a few weeks, so will see how highway 5 does for gas mileage. Cruise control at 90.

It is a 440HP v8, and that does cost money in the tank. Luckily I didnt buy it for gas mileage.

I get a very consistent 14mpg in the city. That's with the 3.73 gears FWIW.

At 2300 miles my average is 13mpg mostly suburb driving and not even really goosing it. I do the same normal drive in my Honda Accord that is supposed to get 37 freeway and I have about a 20.
