My 17 GT was in a wreck a few months back. Car drives great but some of the paint work doesn’t match as well as I’d like. Has anyone had a OEM or better full paint job done? Can I see you car and what was the cost?

Take it back to where it was repaired. With todays tech and materials, there’s no reason why the paint shouldn’t match.

Some places (hopefully your body shop is the same) give a lifetime warranty. When my wife's vehicle was rear-ended in NC, that was just part of the body shop's normal policy. Hopefully you can get satisfaction from such a warranty as well.

A good full paint job is likely to cost a fortune. Likely far cheaper to wrap the car in a color of your choice.
OP I agree with LOL WUT that it is going to be incredibly difficult to get paint to match again without painting the entire vehicle again. More likely than not, sections of the car will always be a slightly different shade than others where the damage was. It will be close but never perfect.

I would not bother with an entire repaint as it is incredibly expensive. I would simply get a wrap on the car in a color that you like. It will be the easiest and cheapest alternative. There are wraps out there that look very similar to car paint if you want more of a factory look, otherwise they can be as crazy as you want if you are into that.

There are tons of options out there to choose from. Check out some colors from 3M.

A proper full vehicle paint will be like $7k-$10k I’d imagine based on costs years and years ago… a full wrap I’ve had quoted at $3k. Wraps obviously end where doors close so it isn’t exactly the same, but if you want a perfect match without breaking the bank, get it wrapped.

I ordered a 2019 GT that came with bad paint. At first Ford didn't want to take it back and wanted to make the car get repainted.

Back in 2019 the quote from the dealers auto body connection was $15k to do this.

I absolutely did not want the car repainted. Ford bought it back when they got this quote.

I can only imagine what it would cost today.

Paint jobs start at 10 15k nowadays. Contrary to what has been said color matching something that's 7 years old isn't fun and probably won't match unless blended.
Yeah I’ve heard different things and agree with you. The car only has 40k and it is garaged. Not a daily. I’d say my factory paint was 9 out of 10. They replaced the driver fender and blended the driver door. Those match perfectly. Color wise it’s pretty close to rest of car but the door and fender have significantly more gloss and I can’t un see it.
The hood had the smallest scuff. They replaced it and supposedly blended passenger fender but it is pretty easy to spot looking at the passenger side. I wish they wouldn’t have touched the passenger fender. I’d probably be ok paying 10k for a good paint job. Not more though. This is the only pic I have at the moment. Not a good one but you can kind of see the gloss difference. The angle and lighting isn’t helping.

There may be some local independent paint shops in your area. You could reach out. You may be able to find someone, a small shop that specializes in painting hots rods, and/or motorcycles that really appreciates the craft. And its a chance to add ghost flames!

Not to mention the cost of depreciation due to the full repaint. I would go back and have the shop do it right. I agree there is no reason for the paint not to match if done properly. I sold my E92 M3 to a buddy, it got hit the left rear almost $18k in damage, they didn't total it. I am one picky obsessive SOB, and I was hard pressed from being able to tell. It was red, and red in different light will have a different refraction color. I couldn't tell.

Johnny is right...they need to blend the clear coat to get the same texture and shine.

just a thought would you be able to block sand the car down yourself afer doing a deal with a shop.
prepping the car takes a lot of time and {$$$$$$}
if you could work out a deal with a shop would save you a lot of the cost
they would prob finish off the prep but you could do the main part
as i said just a thought

hilarious that ford had no idea that a good paint job would be 15k

i bet they tried twisting that paint shops arm too for a cheaper job

All panels must be blended no matter the color. E.g. if painting a new fender mustang blend 1/2 way down the door and A pillars.

If doing a new bumper only must blend into adjacent panel(s).

It's standard procedure and the shop who did it must redo it.

There is no possible way to get a butt match.
