One thing I would take caution if you decide to polish the car up. My detailer let me know that Ford uses very very thin/soft paint. So thin that you can see the base coat through the paint. I couldn't see it with my eyes but my detailer did, and under LED's it was even more apparent. You can see the base coat represented by the brown spots. This was before he started washing the car.

Black is a weird color when you put a super bright and strong light on it like you show in those photos (post #28). I did that to mine and didn't see the "grainy" look ... maybe taking a photo of it makes it look different.

Also, I have to say that the clear coat (on my car at least) seems pretty thick to me. I had some crazy deep scratches that didn't seem to be through the clear coat, but as deep as they seemed I didn't think they would come out. I was able to rub them out by hand and not burn through the clear - it took lot of careful effort, but they did eventually disappear. I was actually shocked that they came out. Maybe when you polish it actually pushes the clear coat around some to fill the scratch valley back in without actually removing material ... don't really know.

Yeah, but it's the programming and operation of the robots (which is all human controlled) that makes or breaks a paint job.

No. You need paint protection film for that.

Unfortunately it will not, the coating does create a layer of added protection but its very very thin not enough to protect against rocks

Sorry to be a newb but what exactly is a paint correction?

Uncorrected paint will have micro scratches, swirl marks all over the paint when you look at it from an angle. By correcting the paint by polishing, you are smoothing out the clear coat to get rid of the swirls and micro scratches.
