I'm sure Ford has power targets that can be reached with a FI V8 and maybe also with a FI V6. However, there are also subjective aspects that should be considered, such as sound smoothness of the power delivery, off-boost performance, heritage, etc.

IMO, the GT500 will have some type of V8 due primarily to those reasons. I also think the power targets (mid-700's to pass the hellcat) will make a boosted V6 require large turbos and high boost. This will make the car feel laggy and unrefined. Instead a larger displacement V8 will be used with lower boost.

I'd imagine the GT500 will be a TTV8, same bore as the Voodoo however utilizing a more traditional crossplane crank. After all it won't need to rev as high as GT350.

But, I do see the 3.5EB making its way into S550 in the guise of the next Mach1. The 3.5 will be making more of a name for itself in the GT and the next Raptor. This makes the most logical sense to me.

What's the weight difference between the 5.2 and 3.5?

Unknown so far. The last gen 3.5EB weighed 5lbs more than the Coyote. It has however been stated that Voodoo has a distinct weight advantage over Coyote. So the difference between 3.5tt and 5.2 will be even more pronounced.

At least not the MUTOs. That was brutal.

But give the gt500 awd and auto. And I'd say the GTR gets severely humbled.

They're not going to make an awd mustang though. Well, if they did, I'd be first in line.

They will likely use a TT V8. It's an engine that Chevy doesn't have an answer for.

The Ford GT went TTV6 for Class Racing (endurance). Where fuel consumption is part of the strategy.

A couple points that seem to keep being forgotten... 1) the GT500 was, and never will be about REFINEMENT. How many of you ever drove one of the originals? Talk about crude! It was all about MASSIVE power-nothing else. 2) The whole point of this exercise is to rub Hellcat's and ZL-1's nose in the fact that Mustang GT500 is the baddest MFer on the street- nothing else. Those of you kiddies that didn't grow up in the 60's street scene culture will NEVER understand what I mean, and will take great offense at what I just said- I'll apologize up front. The whole power-freak sub culture of the pony car, isn't about tech, or handling, etc., or sophistication, it's about putting up the gaudiest numbers you can muster- any way you can. BTW, have you noticed they manage to sell every single Hellcat and ZL-1 they care to build? Doesn't that tell you SOMETHING?

The beast is coming "ECOBEAST" that is.

Ewwwwww

I love me an Ecoboost, but god that ecobeast thing kills me. Our engines sound rice enough before that gets thrown around.

Really? You just like to throw stuff out there. Don't ya? Rumors of a TT ZR1 are out there. Just like "these" rumors.

Lets hope so!

I hope so too. That rocket is a work of art in person.

Also, the Rocket was one of the test mules for Sync 3.
