It's funny you guys say no, because the same no's were said before the debut of the V6 GT. While I still believe the GT500 will be a V8, I won't hold my breath

There is no way the gt500 will be nothing other than a V8, or else what would be the point of making another gt500?

Sign me up. Some of the bodywork details need some help, but I'd love for it to be an ecoboost derivative...for no other reason than to piss off the narrow minded V8 crowd.

Make it a bulletproof 3.5 around 600 hp or so. Turbo swap and fuel upgrades only for reliable 4 digit power levels.

30 mpg and w/ minimal outlay of $ for mods to be 800 hp capable...if people still complain f 'em....

Won't happen. Fun to dream though.

What did Ford do to the new Ford GT???? A V6TT.
They can put a V6TT in their super car, they can for sure put it in a GT500.

Spare me Automobile Magazine's daydreams. This is about as accurate as the "Evos" renderings of the '15 GT. And don't hold your breath for a V6 GT500. Not to say you won't see the big Ecoboost, but it won't be a GT500.

Can have V8s in class; they're racing against the proto 'vettes, Mazda diesel, Audi diesel, etc..

That looks too road trackish for the 500. The 500 has always been just an exercise in horsepower, and TBH useless without a few supporting mods for the power it makes.

guaranteed the ttv6 in the ford gt costs more to build than the 5.2 in the gt350 so I highly doubt that would ever happen

With the Voodoo aboard now there is a new gun in town that revs to 8k so I think the V8 got a new breath of life for the GT 500 for years to come.

The GT based V6 would be a better horsepower to weight ratio thing and be more efficient with gas probably but like were seeing here the 500 has always been a display of raw Ford power.

Imagine how crazy strong a supercharged or Turbo charged Voodoo V8 would be and already made to redline at 8000 in stock form! :ford:

I would like to see Ford come out with an SVO version of the S550 that featured the twin turbo v6. That was a formidable Mustang in the mid 80's having raced several of them with my 86GT back in the day. I'm hoping the GT500 stays with the 8 cylinder. I have an ecoboost in my '14 F150 and I bet that engine, stepped up a bit would be nasty in a Mustang.
