in the city.... mmhmm

This! Yes! Same here man. It's nice and quiet at a stop, but if you're the first car at the red light, everyone's definitely going to hear it when you push it when the light turns green.

Honestly, I rarely use my radio just because I love the sound of the exhaust so much. Not sure if that's weird or what, but just like you say, it's music to the ears!

and driving thru downtown with all the buildings to bounce around the sound... On a scale from 1 to Even... i can't... so epic.. thunder for days.. and the tone is perfect..

I had the ford racing x pipe for months and it just wasn't enough. So today I installed the Roush axle backs and wow what a difference. At first I thought oh crap these are to loud but after driving around a bit, man I can't get enough. I love the sound and how you can just creap with low sound and then just stand on it, man that 5.0 comes alive. Couldn't be happier. Infact I'm sitting here watching the gators lose and Im thinking I might just take a ride to hear that bad ass sound.

Just put the MRT H-Pipe on my car that had RoushAxlebacks. It sounds more "tube-y" if that makes sense. It sounds more muscle car ish because the sound is not baffled as it goes through the H Pipe.

Another thing to note: cold starts can be very loud, but a minute into it and the car warms up. It goes down quite a bit. When I first installed it I had a drone by 1800-2000 rpm but it's since gone.

The axlebacks in comparison sound "flat" compared to when it has the H-Pipe installed. The Aclebacks for the Roush are nice too, just a little quiet for my taste.

Hell yeah. Creeping sounds sexy. Like when you get in stop-and-go traffic and you just need to creep like 5-10mph in 1st gear for a few good seconds before hitting brakes again. It sounds so sexy and I just know everyone's like "damn".

You durn kids get off my lawn! (said the guy with the orange car to the other guy with the orange car, LOL - yes, I realize the color is "loud")

Though, in all seriousness, exhaust-sound is like looks of the color, I think. Recording (for sound) or pictures (for color) doesn't really quite convey it. You have to hear/see things in person.

Sound has the extra factor of people's eardrum sensitivity, and the additional issue of what it sounds like inside vs out. Some people have more sensitivity to droning, or particular pitches than others do.

I know I tend to have sensitive (but indistinct) hearing. Even in my teens/twenties, I'd have to turn the treble down a bit when I'd listen to metal - the upper pitches were painful for me, yet, when I said so, others looked at me like I'd sprouted a second head.

Side note: what I mean by sensitive but indistinct (or sensitive but "blurry") hearing is that, if you take me and a completely average person, and have us walk toward a room where people are whispering or talking quietly, I will hear that there is some whispering/talking (or some noise) before the other person does, but the other person will be able to distinguish the words before I can.

Yeah, it's weird.

It's all about personal opinion and taste. I thought the Ford Racing TOURING was too loud on a daily basis, so I removed them after 2 weeks. They sound great but I didn't want that noise all the time. AND yes I'm older...51 to be exact.

I just order the slp loudmouth 2 which I think are pretty similar to the roush. With a x or h pipe would adding aftermarket resonators quite any exhaust down? I normally don't leave until 830am so not to worried.

I have the Roush Axlebacks, with the factory resonator they weren't too bad, with an X-pipe its pretty obnoxious. Windows up you really cant tell as this car has really good sound deadening, but anyone on the outside will tell you its f***ing loud! I couldn't imagine catless.

I've got the Roush AB and an H pipe resonator delete . The Mustang sounds great with this . The only time it's a little loud is on start up and if you hit the gas otherwise it's a nice low rumble . No drone at all

That is true. The Roush were on two days and they did have a drone. I went to Ford touring and been happy ever since. Just hope my resonator doesn't go to rattling so I can stay with my present setup. The best improvement was getting rid of the lousy noise from the sound tube and adding the Roush CAI.

"I have the X pipe and it is so loud" or something similar is exactly why I kept the stock resonator. My straight through Borla S type axlebacks are plenty loud for these 50 year old ears, and I still get compliments. I took some kids for a ride over the weekend and when they heard me start it, got excited and said "oh that sounds good!" Gotta teach the next generation what a proper V8 should sound like

I've heard the Roush mufflers with an X pipe and it was LOUD, more than I would want for a daily driver, but I guess we all have have a different threshold.

JRuss, did the CAI make the car much louder? I've done the sound tube delete as well and like it.

I didn't see where CAI made the car any louder under normal driving conditions. If you go full throttle you know its there but even than it is a none issue. It's not the lousy noise you get from the sound tube.
