What about with or without the resonator delete?
They are noticeably louder with the Ford Racing X-Pipe instead of resonator. I added the X-pipe after driving with the just the axel backs installed for a week. Sounds good like that, but I wanted it to sound like a monster when I get into it. This combination makes the car sound like a monster when you get into the throttle...

Too loud? Nah. Volume is totally manageable with the throttle. The cold start will be pretty loud, but that goes for just about every aftermarket system. Unless you are going full throttle thru the hood, I wouldn't consider them too loud with normal driving. Best of luck to you finding what fits your needs.

Ditto, I have them with the stock resonator and they are perfect. To say they are too loud, well you might as well keep the exhaust stock then.
With the resonator they're not loud at all..... take that resonator off like the op is talking about and you will see what he means.

The OP never mentioned a resonator delete in his original post?

I have the Roush with the Ford Racing X Pipe res delete and I think it sounds awesome. I doesn't drone and it's hardly louder than stock cruising on the highway. But get on it goes Hulksmash!

I doubt your axlebacks are that loud... considering my set up, I can drive just fine.

I turn heads when I want heads turned (quick red light rev)

so obvious the Mustang has brought in new Mustang owners because Mustang people don't complain about Mustangs being loud or want quiet Mustangs. It's just staggering to constantly read people whining about how loud the exhaust is.

It's a v8 what you think it's going to be like? Every one of these exhaust are only loud if you stomp on it. you can get around any neighborhood with any exhaust and especially something as simple as an axle back that still has the suitcase resonator on it which really isn't even loud to begin with because of the stupid suitcase resonator.

^ This.

If you go to the track, you'll hear lots of cars that pound on your chest and hurt your ears when they go WOT.

That's what muscle is about!!

I plan to order the Ford Racing Touring and since my pipes are already cut it will be a few minute job to exchange them. I was looking for a little louder deeper sound. Not the annoying roar the Roush system gave me.
I will be selling the Roush axle back system as soon as I can make the swap.
Hell, my hearing isn't up to par so I can't imagine what these sound like to younger ears. I guess when I was young I might have thought they sound great.
What part of FL are you in? Inbox me when you're ready to sell. I'll gladly take them off your hands.

Edit: corrected, good luck with the new exhaust.

I have the Roush axle back with stock resonator, leave for work
Before 5am,cold start up is a little loud but idles down pretty quick,
Shift 1st to 3rd then 5th when driving thru neighbor hood to not offend,
Also use that pattern for normal driving with 3.73 gears,I get many complements on how nice the car sounds, I do not want a car that draws to much attention with normal driving or rasp at WOT,I feel the Roush axle back is just about perfect and how it should have come from Ford,if I added a after market H-Pipe I'm afraid it might be to load, sucks getting old..

Exhaust is all a matter of opinion, personally i like my stuff on the louder side. In my opinion our axle back is on the aggressive side but i wouldn't consider it obnoxious at all. However once the resonator is removed it gets to be loud.
