EVs accelerate like nothing else, but outside of the supercar EVs (Taycan and higher), I don't think any of them are particularly fast around a track?

Maybe for a lap or two then yeah they start to run out of steam. Those batteries get hot in a hurry from what I’ve heard

Gotta think like a lay-person, they don’t get the difference. It’s easy for us enthusiasts to get stuck in our zone, but we really are the minority in the vehicle buying world.

Oh I agree in business profit is top priority. But you have to decide whether alienating some of your customers is worth it. I can't even tell you how many non car people have come up to me, knowing I'm a car guy, and expressed that they think "Mustang Mach E" was a poor move on Ford's part. Short term it got notoriety, but long term, Ford's reputation was damaged.

Similar to the decision to announce Ford would no longer build CARS. I can't imagine that helped Ford's reputation.

I've heard the Challenger (or is it Charger?) might end up with a gas engine after all due to customer feedback. It's great that Dodge is listening to their customers.

I would never say never, but right now I agree EVs are not even close to matching up with ICE vehicles in practicality, value and fun.

Yes! A Z28 with the FPC Z06 engine in it and a manual transmission would have been so awesome. I would be willing to sell body parts to be able to buy that.

Same here. As much as I didn’t really care for the Camaro after I test drove a few, to get possibly the last Z28 they ever build would’ve jumped to the top of my list

One thing I will add is that at least in my day to day talking to people about EVs, not a single one has ever brought up environmental concerns either direction. I honestly just think it’s the flashy new tech everyone wants, like when the iPhone came out. About the only consistent thing I get from people about EVs is “they’re really fast!” Although I’m sure they are still out there, I think EVs have moved beyond the tree hugging Prius types.

I have several friends who have gone the EV route for at least one of their vehicles. Expense is what they talk about. The initial outlay is high but the operating expense for commuting is lower. Electrons are cheaper than gasoline, maintenance is minimal. Quickness is another plus.

I would agree on the maintenance until the battery takes a shit. Then you have nothing but a 5,000lb paperweight

The only thing that is going to save the ICE is carbon neutral fuels, and I'd say development on that is falling behind because all the manufacturers besides VAG (I think Porsche are the one of the main players in synthetic fuels, maybe I'm getting that wrong) are putting all or most of their eggs in the battery power basket. Toyota and Hyundai are the only big manufacturers putting any serious R&D into Hydrogen.

You are correct, Porsche is investing heavily in synthetic/alternative fuels. I hope others follow

Actual operating costs for EVs in a recent study was a whopping $17 per gallon equivalent. Government is attempting to water that down by throwing printed money at it everywhere they can, but sooner or later reality will set in. Also, hard to consider multi-hour charging as “quickness” lol ;)

Chrysler is pushing this garbage that the next Challenger & Charger(as of recent) will be all electric with up to a 1,000 hp and people will want it! No they won't. People who want an electric car can buy one. Just don't force it on those who don't want one.

This electric "revolution" is not looking good for manufacturers. GM is cutting production on electric vehicles, 1/2 of the Ford dealers who signed up to sell electric cars(forced to do so by Ford) have now dropped out of the program.

Ford is also sitting on a 109 day supply of Mach E's( regular industry supply=60 days).

The worse thing about this electric crap? Imagine going to a car show 10 years from now and all you hear is dead silence! Just the whirring of electric "Musclecars" backing into parking spaces.

Sad day indeed. I know the camaro gets a lot of hate here, but if you havent driven one - dont. The 10 speed variant makes the 10R80 mustang feel like you are driving an old truck with a shift kit. The camaro 10 speed is what the 10R80 mustang SHOULD shift and feel like. The camaro is not all that inside, but its more of a driver's car than the mustang is. SS vs GT. And the SS 1LE is probably the best all around sports car you can/could ever buy. That car does it all.

I agree, especially the SS1LE. I just could not get over the interior and the visibility. Visibility is atrocious.

I'm glad I got mine, but I really hope the Camaro comes back sooner rather than later as the same type of car - a sports coupe with a big IC engine with great handling.

By the time it comes back, EV’s will have been another Fad like Beanie Babies
