BLIS also has a collision alert. There is a row of LEDs in the Dirvers side Dash closer to the windshield. These will light up and there will be an audable. After this calm down a Collision Warning message appears in the center console. I found that out last night in Stop and Go traffic.

This is actually part of the Adaptive Cruise Control option, and not part of BLIS.

The Adaptive Cruise Control option includes ACC (obviously), Rain Sensing Wipers, Collision Warning, and Brake Precharge (Collision Mitigation)

So in order to get that, I need BLIS and it has nothing to do with the $300 reverse sensor option?
Get the 401a pkg... I can tell you it is well worth it... going in rev next to my truck, can't see out but the blis is fantastic... even if parallel parking and someone is coming down the street... quite a ways down... still got alerted

Agree with you, and initially didn't order them because they were unnecessary with a backup camera, but I changed my order to add them on anyway, just because I'm unsure on the angle of the rearview camera and I figure it can't hurt to have them there since I do parallel park every day and bump into things at 1/4 mph during that process pretty regularly.

What I'd REALLY like is a front camera, also for parallel parking, because it's easy to know where the front end is in relation to a car in front of me... except if it's got a trailer hitch. Busted up my front license plate because of that many times.
YES! Front sensors! Especially with that long hood. I'm, um .... adjusting. :cool:

I have rear park assist in my Fusion but no camera. The sensors have saved me more than a few times! Like when I went to back out of a parking spot at the supermarket and a very small child walked behind my car with no parent in sight. Beep beep beep....worth the $295!

The Cross-Traffic warning in the BLIS package does present a graphic display. My salesman and I played with it during a demo ride. I parked between two F-150s and he drove back and forth down the lane. I edged out so that just my rear bumper was extended beyond the pickups. As he drove toward me (I couldn't see him at all), the display screen began to beep and a graphic image of the Mustang was displayed and then a yellow perpendicular vehicle outline slowly passed behind me. We measured the farthest it picked up his car...50 ft.
Years ago I had a woman using a cell phone crash into my small car's rear end as I was backing out. I was surrounded by two vans and literally could not see down the lane until my window passed the rear of the vans.
My 2015 Mustang sits lower than that little Toyota.

Backup camera - eh, honestly the sensors are way better, especially the cross traffic alert. Came with the package though I guess *shrug*.
Where the back camera comes in handy is backing into parking places. Makes it a breeze.

The best part about the BLIS option is that it eliminates those little spot mirrors on the side mirrors. I always hated those. Without BLIS you get the spots.

Sorry! My 2 cent now.
All this gadgets are only good "down South". The last couple of days, all my sensors are covered in snow and ice. The camera - yep I clean it to see a little bit - but after driving to the supermarket or to work - useless. Backside of the car is mostly always covered in snow after a short right - beeping when I back up all the time. Graphic of the car shows all red in the back. The CTA still works - somehow. :shrug:

Now you know why I didn't get the ACC package.

Why should it? To be standard equipment the item has to either be mandated by the government or become such a common item that selling a car without it becomes unprofitable. Ford is in the business of making money, not giving away all their gadgets. As for government mandates I feel we have too many of those already.

You'd think that after a while it would occur to people to do exactly this - back into the parking spot so they could drive out normally. The key, of course, would be to locate the camera's display in a useful place, and down in the dash or as a tiny panel in the inside mirror are places that would never work for me.

Why should it?

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Perhaps in this case, willingly ceding ever-more responsibility to technology (subject to its programming team's personal opinions) is its own definition of hell.

It truly scares me how brainwashed people are becoming when I read quotes like the one above. Almost a "can't do" attitude, and at complete odds with the way I was raised.

Norm railing against technology again... I mean are you OK with CAD and robotic manufacturing? Why are you subsidizing a company that doesn't hand make automobiles?

You have the same hangup I have to question about the Amish. It's not like they don't use technology, they just stop at one particular point in time as 'acceptable'. Why is 1970s tech acceptable to you but not 2015? Why is power steering OK but rear parking sensors not? I guess I just don't understand your paranoia or arbitrary distinction between one item and the next.
I agree with this completely. If it weren't for technology we wouldn't be nearly as safe in our cars as we are today. As far as the Amish analogy, it fits perfectly. What he grew up with (e.g. 'how he was raised') only makes sense to him within the boundaries of his experiences. The world progresses, technology changes and we all move on.

However, I'm not convinced he believes all of this and that he doesn't provoke purposefully. By all logical and forum fact-based reasoning presented by him, he should be driving a 1979 Dodge Aspen :)

I grew up driving cars that are relatively primitive by today's standards -- I don't think anybody under the age of 30 has ever had to adjust a choke to get a car started in wintertime, for example. Yeah, it's nice to not have to worry about parts potentially breaking down (I've had window switches wear out and leave me unable to open windows, for example, something that would never happen with crank windows), but for the most part there is absolutely nothing that I miss about old cars that I think has been "ruined" by new technology. Everything's an improvement that makes driving better and easier.

Sole exceptions: I really, really miss two features that all of my old '70's vintage cars had that have been overcome by automatic technology. One is the ability to blow ambient fan air through the front defroster vents -- every car these days turns on the air conditioning compressor automatically when you turn on the front window air vents, and it annoys me because I always used to keep regular circulated ambient-temperature air coming in through that vent so that it would flow into the cabin without flying into my face. It bugs me that I can't do that now.

And the second -- and WAY more important one -- is that every car made these days automatically shuts off the rear defroster after a few minutes. Used to be, there was a switch and you could switch the defroster on and then switch the defroster off, and it would stay that way. But now, that's impossible, and you end up either having to constantly check the button and re-hit it as soon as it goes out (thus taking your eyes off the road) or else risk the rear window cooling down and rain/snow accumulating on it as you drive in a storm (or interior condensation reforming on it as it cools). It's REALLY obnoxious to have to re-turn-on the rear defroster five times in an hour-long drive.
