Has anyone tried fitting the Reverse Park Assist into their car?

I thought it came standard with the car, since it already has a rear view camera. In hindsight, it's the only other option I wish I had gotten. Not to be a wimp about it, but it's handy to have the 'beeping' warning when getting too close to something.

There are a lot of aftermarket units out there, but I don't want to just stick something in, I'd like it to be a factory unit.

Anyone try this?

Thanks!

I doubt it would be cheap because you'd have to get the bumper sensors and then a new bumper cover and then obviously the computer set up.

My car has RPA. It would be fine with just the camera and the green/yellow/red lines. The beeper is a good warning, but I have found the camera to be so good that I know when the beeper is going to sound. It's a little bit extraneous. Not bad, mind you, just not very necessary. Don't stress over it.

I have a base GT w/ RPA, I actually use it and the side view mirrors almost exclusively over the rear view camera since the screen is so small.

That would make a difference. The MFT screen is like watching television. You can see everything. My MIL has a 2014 Escape with the same screen you have. Definitely harder to see clearly there.

Yeh on the MFT/premium the camera is clear as day. You just have to learn/test how close the green/yellow/red lines are.

I play to test with a tall empty cardboard box and just back very slowly and measure the distances so I have a gauge. I dont remember seeing the distances in the manual anywhere

I dont see how the beeps would be more helpful

And remember to wipe your thumb across the lens *every time* you walk behind your car....

For those without reverse park assist -- does it still mute your audio when you put it in reverse? That killed me on a phone conference today.
