I have the BLIS and love it because it tells if cars are coming sideways towards you when you are backing up. I don't see the need for the reverse sensor because I just look at where the red guidelines in the camera are when I'm backing up and stop when they reach an object...

BLIS > sensors. Anyone can look back and based on camera, like you mentioned, along with the lines its very easy to know if you will hit something. Now the BLIS is nice because it'll help with your blind spot upon lane changes and also when backing out and you cant see oncoming vehicles due to parked vehicles next to you. Sensors are more of a crutch, BLIS is more of a safety/cool feature. Although you can call the blind spot detection when lane changing a crutch as well, since its easy to just move your neck and check yourself, the parking lot advantage of it is great because sometimes you really cant see over the other cars when backing out.

I was at a shopping center on my second day with my rear sensor equipped Ecoboost. I was parked between to large SUV's and was backing out looking over my shoulders and with the mirrors. Suddenly the audibles went off and sure enough it was a Challenger that hurried over to check out the car, I wouldn't have otherwise seen him. It's an inexpensive layer of protection if you ask me. Especially on my street where there a lots of young kids and pets out and about.

I anticipate the advantage will be even greater on a convertible with the top up. Seeing cross traffic while backing out of a parking space is harder in a ragtop, thus I ordered 401A to include the feature.

BLIS is packaged in the worst package. It needs to be a stand alone option or put with the RPA as a package.

I don't need mem seats, HD radio or the extra speakers.

Really sucks they did this to the safety feature.

BLIS as a single option...

I agree that BLIS should have been a single option. To my old ears, the standard Shaker sound system is good enough, and I don't have three other drivers needing memory seats. I am still going to pay for it tho'...I had a texting driver hit me as I backed out between two vans. I did not have an assistant with me to guide me out of the parking space, my wheels were barely moving, yet she hit me at about 15 mph. Guess what that did to my rear end and the rear corner of the adjacent van?

So in order to get that, I need BLIS and it has nothing to do with the $300 reverse sensor option?
Correct, that's part of BLIS, not the reverse sensor option.

Funny you mention -- I got the package for the upgraded stereo, but I have no use for BLIS and plan on getting rid of it since I prefer the spotter mirrors.

And 1 in 1000 times, someone else will go for that same spot after you've already changed your attention back to the road in front and surprise you.

To me, that's the value of BLIS. Not so I can drive like an ASS HAT assuming the car will save me from myself.

I get that you assume people will stop thinking if they get these tech gizmos, but that's just not the case. They're not there for the 99.9% of the time, just the 0.1% where you prove you're human and make a mistake.

Nor will these gizmo's prevent all accidents. Granted, I've never changed lanes and actually hit someone before. I've never pulled out of a parking spot and hit someone before. But I've come close, and if it would help make them less close, it would be worth it.

Just my opinion though, but that's why I got a fully loaded GT.
My question is, how sensitive is the BLIS sensor? Like, if I'm changing lanes, I'm normally doing it into a spot that's about six feet longer than my car (so, I'll have three feet to the car in front of me and three feet to the car behind me). Will BLIS still beep that there's a car next to me if I'm moving into a spot like that, even though there's three feet of clearance?

I was in my friends Mazda the other day. He was parked between two SUVs and when he started to backup, his car alerted him of a car in the lane even though it wasn't behind him and not visible in the backup camera.

Does the mustang reverse sensors do this? This is my deciding factor on ordering this option.
Not very far to the side. If you really want that, you want the BLIS option, which has sensors in the lower fenders behind the rear wheels designed to look perpendicularly to the car.

So far, I have found the RSS to be helpful, since I back up against large boulders, every morning, in the dark. But it's not magic and can't do everything I wish it could, like see around Suburbans parked next to me. I didn't get the 401A group so I don't have BLIS.

I don't think BLIS beeps. Mine hasn't yet. If it does I hope there is a position to stop audible alerts on BLIS itself. That would get annoying. It does track pretty well cars in your blind spot and will blink as the car goes out of the zone. If in the Zone its a constant light.

But the car was probably 20-25 feet away, but about to cross paths. It was basically a "there is a car coming" warning. Does the mustang do that?
I have the BLIS option. I was at the mall last week and was starting to back out of a parking spot and it did alert me that a car was crossing my path. I'm almost certain there was a few beeps and want to say that something flashed on the big screen for a second or two. It definitely alerted me.

It goes on and off as people enter and exit your blind spot. It blinks if you put your blinker on when somebody is in your blind spot. No audible beeps.

This definitely beeps, yes... the tone comes out of your rear speakers.

BLIS...

I have carefully read the owners manual but...

BLIS has warning lights on the mirrors.
Does it give an audible tone?
Is there a visual warning on the touch screen (also for Cross-Traffic Warning)?

BLIS has warning lights on the mirrors. - Yes
Does it give an audible tone? - Not for BLIS, yes for Cross Traffic
Is there a visual warning on the touch screen (also for Cross-Traffic Warning)? I am less sure about this one. I am almost certain that BLIS doesn't display any warning on either the touch screen or the center dash display. Cross traffic might display a warning in addition to the audible warning, but it has only gone off a couple of times for me, and I can't remember for sure.
