Great! I really appreciate the feedback. Do you get any of the 'rasp' at the higher end?

Do you agree with the people who say this is simply a lower volume Roush AB?

I think it sounds pretty badass -- I woudn't describe it as raspy. They are essentially Roush cans with a little more conservative baffling and packing -- yeah, I'd say they are a quieter Roush...

With the addition of the FRPP x-pipe, I would expect rasp.

It sounds like we're after close to the same thing -- I bought a Ford Racing x-pipe, and later got the SLP Loudmouth II's -- very reasonable directly from SLP (part of Kovington Performance Holdings, also affiliated with Roush) -- I had those put on, and they have fantastic looking finishers, and a nice tone that's quiet around town. Strictly speaking, any exhaust louder than stock is illegal in MD -- but there's no way to regulate your intentions for upgrading, or database of stock sound pressures, so... I still have my x-pipe sitting around, since I'm guessing that will ramp up the noise level significantly - just something to consider.
Tell that to all the Honda's around here! Can't tell if it's a car or a John Deere lawn tractor!

I have the Lethal H-pipe on right now. As others have said, this is how the car should've sounded stock. That said, I do have the desire for a little more... just not too much. Interestingly, I noticed that it definitely sounds louder in Track mode, even during the same type of driving. I even get a bit of gurgling when shifting from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd.

Overall, really happy with the H-pipe but may go to a Corsa Sport or Borla Touring catback in the near future.

Just left my local shop. They recommended a magnaflow style xpipe with the stock mufflers. He told me it shouldnt be to raspy or droney...but I'm not so sure based in what I'm hearing here.

For all you guys running x or h pipes with stock mufflers how much louder would you say the over all volume is? What about cruising in high gear low rpm?
I guess i'm a little odd, but I hate loud. But............. I hate too damned quiet. Being a fabricator I made my own H pipe to go in place of the suitcase resonator and welded it in it cost me about 15$ to buy scrap 2.5 stainless pipe from the scrap yard. I really don't notice the sound too much inside the car, it may be a bit louder than stock inside but I still hear more from the front of the car than I do from behind.

The only way I really know is at startup, other than that the car sounds the same from my perspective, no rasp but again I made my own H and its really smooth everywhere. Outside, people say it sounds good but Ive never heard it from their perspective, they say it doesn't sound "stock" and thats good enough for me.

Did you by chance have the SLP LM2 on there with the stock resonator in place? If so, what sort of volume increase would you say it is over stock?

Unfortunately I had already installed the H-pipe.

I can agree with it being a lower volume version. To me it sounds perfect. Not too loud, but still aggressive when I'm on the go peddle. I get zero rasp.. or what I would call rasp with the H-pipe, and also zero drone. It sounds a lot deeper in person than it does on the gopro vid I made.

Same here. Agree with all you said. I kept the resonator. GF says it is louder than stock, but it is not by much, especially when driving the auto mildly.

Hmmm now I'm back to debating between this (LM2) and the Roush AB. I want it to be noticeably louder, but not TOO loud. Perhaps I just need to find a way to listen to these in person

I may go to Katies Coffee Shop for cars and coffee super early Saturday -- it's in NOVA. My car is not show ready right now -- but it's a chill meet, and decent breakfast. I have a small PDR-worthy ding in front of the gas door, and a small crack in the bumper-cover around the grill where I didn't miss a small, darting deer. I have another front end, but haven't had a chance to get it on -- now I think I'll wait until I get a different grill and some switchbacks -- but I digress... Or we can meet ourselves sometime -- not sure where you are in PA.

Agreed. The resonator delete with H-pipe and stock mufflers definitely doesn't sound stock. You hear it on start up, and you hear it inside the car when you get on it. I've had people at work tell me they heard my car rumbling when I pulled up. For me its the perfect sound volume.

I'm in NE PA so a little farther from you down South in MD, but I really appreciate the offer. I figure if I go to a Cars & Coffee event there's bound to be an S550 w/ LM2s or Roush ABs right!?! haha

Maybe! There was a guy there one week with a PP car -- looked all stock. Sounded stock. SOUNDED STOCK. It had the Roush SC on it. You couldn't even hear the belt.

I am curious about this, too. However, I can report that I drove a couple of Roush cars at the dealer. They had active exhaust, and the stock resonator in place. At the time I was concerned that it would be too loud on vacation runs, even when switched to "mellow mode".

With my LM2/resonator setup, I can hear the "purr" at low rpm cruising. With Roush, I would expect that I would hear some of the upper tone ("rasp"), and that is what I was afraid might get on my nerves (and especially my GF's nerves).

I am concluding that the s550 has a nice quiet interior, which means that what we hear inside will never match what others hear outside. Those that put on very loud systems are obnoxious on the outside, IMO, and not DD-appropriate on the inside.

[Edit: With the Roush, you will hear more than just the low-toned "purr". The upper tones come through a little, and that is what I suggest you use to decide if that tone is what you like, versus find annoying. I think I would like it okay for DD, but not on vacation.]

I just got an RMA for my FRPP X-pipe -- I think I will go with this instead -- I'm very curious as to the weight savings from it -- also a little disappointed that I didn't take the time to weigh the SLP's before they went on -- oh well -- maybe someone can, and post to the "what things weigh" thread -- this is a Borla resonator replacement:
