After installing my Solo Mach catback on my 16 GT PP, I think I’m getting old. I drove a Ram 1500 with stock exhaust for years, and got used to stock exhaust. Buying this car, the aftermarket exhaust takes away from the luxury feel to me (I know, blasphemy). It’s a premium PP loaded with all of the niceties. I’ve had the exhaust on it for 2 days, and I’m already mildly annoyed with it.

that being said, the stock exhaust has zero anything. The stock exhaust on my truck sounded better than this car. I can buy an axle back, but it will still be loud. There’s no catback available that is close to stock with just a little more sound. I was digging around and came across a Borla “resonator muffler”. It says it has to be installed with the Borla catback, but any competent exhaust shop can install it.

I’m curious if anyone has ever installed one of these with the stock mufflers still in place. The giant suitcase of a resonator kills any sound in the exhaust. I want some sound, but every catback on the market is louder than I want. I’ve heard resonator delete x and h pipes, and they’re too loud as well. Has anyone ever heard one of these installed with the rest of the exhaust stock?

I know you said you have the solo mach exhaust. The Mach thunder exhaust has a resonator/muffler, as does the Mach xv. I’m pretty sure that the Mach xv is quieter than the thunder. Which do you have? If it helps, take a look here: https://shop-solo-performance.com/en/131-0l-ford-mustang-gt-2015-2017

Solo will sell you the Mach xv mid resonator/muffler if you email them. The advantage here is that you can change this out on your own (I.e., no muffler shop).

I should have been more specific. I have the Mach XV. I had the same exhaust on my 2015 years ago, though it was called something else then. It sounds great, just louder than I want.
