For those with the FRPP, MAK, MRT or Lethal resonator delete X or H pipes, can you comment on the overall noise level? I'm looking for a few things:

Volume/tone compared to stock at:
- Idle
- Driving around town (not aggressive)
- Aggressive driving
- Cruising (70-75 mph, or around 2000 rpm)
- Drone (particular during the above cruising condition)
- Cold start up

From the videos I think this is the route I want to go as it seems to add some volume but not enough to attract a lot of attention or make the neighbors unhappy.

I have the MRT H-Pipe with stock axle back. To add a little more sound and deeper tone it's a great bang for your buck.

Volume at idle is a little bit louder than stock and deeper sounding (and I'm told H-Pipe is deeper than X-Pipe). At start up it's a little louder than stock but only for less than a minute when it's warming up.

Driving around town, normal conditions, it's pretty tame. Deeper tone still but you can hear it's there...not too loud IMO.

When you stomp on it you can definitely hear it then and it has a great tone. Also riding around with RPM's up you can hear it too. Still not too loud though.

Absolutely no drone at any speed. You can hear the exhaust better with the windows down but when windows are up it is very tame unless under throttle. You can listen to music and have conversations just fine under normal driving conditions.

I would say the volume of the H-Pipe with stock axle backs is somewhere between stock and after market axle back. So if you do decide to get after market axle backs later your exhaust will be louder than those same axle backs with resonator in place. So keep that in mind.

I bought the MRT H pipe and installed it with the stock mufflers it was a little bit louder but still really quiet and pretty close to the stock sound.

- Idle a little louder during start up but after it idled down not much of a difference to me.
- Driving around seemed like it was a little deeper in tone but not loud.
- At 70 it's quiet you could not hear any difference with the windows up
- No Drone
- Cold start up is probably where it made the most sound

I drove it around for a week that way and I still kept hearing the engine over the exhaust, and to me it felt like there was such a small change in sound I did not get any value out of the swap (other than reduction in weight) I ended up ordering the FRPP touring axelbacks and am much happier.

Thank you very much! Everything you said is what I am looking for.

I have the Lethal Performance H-pipe resonator delete, and what he said is spot on. Why spend $1000+ on a cat back system when the resonator deletes do it for about $300? It may not be as loud as other systems, but for me it is perfect.

I ran the MRT h-pipe by itself for about two weeks, it adds a little more sound but nothing crazy. It could pass as stock. Pretty much at all times it is just a bit louder than stock. It wasn't enough for me so I added the axle backs afterwards, the combo is beast but super loud.

This is the same thing I'm going for, just a little louder than stock. BC or Of Wolf and Man could you post a video of how your exhaust sounds? I have found a couple of videos on youtube with the x-pipe res delete but none with the h-pipe res delete.

I've not really considered a cat back because most of them are just too loud. I want it to sound like a performance car, but I've yet to hear any that give it the reasonable bump in sound like these resonator deletes do.

Considering that basically all the exhaust options (aside from longtubes of course) will add negligible power I went with the cheapest option to pick up a little tone without being crazy loud, which was the FRPP resonator delete.

Still waiting for my shipment to come in from ford (the car) and lethal performance (the midpipe) so i'll let you know when they get here

The CJ Pony parts video link posted by BmacMI is a good video and recording, representative of the sound.

Right now I'm still wavering because I think I might like my exhaust a little louder. I think if I had seen the MBRP catback before the H-Pipe I might have gone that route, because the price for the aluminized system is only $569 and is getting good reviews. But its hard for me to tell how much louder it will be then my H-Pipe setup...still investigating.
Thinking of getting the MBRP and try to sell my H-Pipe.

Another choice is Ford Racing Touring axleback with my H-Pipe.
I bet that will sound good too and may not be as loud as MBRP system.
But at $750 +/- for FRPP added to $240 for the H-Pipe here I am up to almost $1000 for exhaust which is what I was tying to avoid to begin with!

I have the LP X pipe reso delete with stock mufflers. Zero drone. Little more goodness at idle and a good step up everywhere else when pushing the loud stick. No upset neighbors or unwanted attn. Great bang for the buck if you want some extra tone, while keeping it low key. Should fit your bill perfectly.

That being said I'm now looking for a deeper tone and more of it, personally. Found a deal on a used MagnaFlow setup and planning on adding that to my LP set up soon.

I'm with you Highwayman. I just ordered the LP "H" pipe res delete. My neighbors were dancing when I bought the 2015. I had a 2011 with Bassani X cat back and during the winter with cold starts it would rattle the walls.....
