Anybody have anything bad to say about this stuff? Did first change with Motorcraft, but this isn't that much more expensive in bulk ($52/gal) - and meets Ford spec.

Anyone running this?

52 bucks / gal that is like 13 bucks a quart ? kmans parts has the complete oil change kit with the proper filter for 97 bucks...

I went amsoil this time, but I'm going back to Motorcraft, can't see why I would not stick to Ford's oil . It's not like I leave it for 15k miles..
Just my 2 cents.

I've used Redline a few times and it's good to go, but I've found it more expensive w/shipping compared to the Motorcraft. I found that odd since Redline is somewhat local to me (Benicia to San Jose is ~60 miles).

The best thing about it is the quart bottles can be re-used as funnels!! ;)

I'm also OK with Motorcraft. Not saying it's the most high quality oil out there, but it's changed out every 5k miles on regular to moderate hard driving.

Redline is not what is use to be. The Porsche Flextronics race cars had an issue when their drivetrains would blow after 3 races vs half a season otherwise. They contact redline who told them they change the additive pkg to make cats last longer. That race team changed to Swepco oil which is dino oil and not synthetic. A good place for your question would be on bobstheoilguy.com there are oil chemist and engineers posting there. You would be better served there rather than taking my opinion or anyone else who lacks a phd in oil.

It seems the oil companies are sneaky sneaky.. They change formulas all the time to drive maximum profits. There was a gold label castrol oil that the bmw guys would buy, that specific label and oil grade was imported and had more moly barium and other good additive for hi-perf engines. Once that started selling really well castrol changed the formula and produced it domestically which meant they were limited on the additive pkg by the feds emissions regs and the oil lost all the benefit and reason why ppl were buying that specific one. There are many more stories like this on bobstheoilguy.com and even threads specific to oil grades in a specific brand.

I had all but forgotten about bobstheoilguy! Good stuff on there back in the day. However, I just tried going on there and I was blocked due to detected Malware, or malicious software all over the site on both my iPhone and work PC.

If I may change the subject a bit; any love for Mobile 1? I just purchased a case of Motorcraft from my dealer for $116. Saw on Wal-mart's web site that Mobile 1 was $22-23 for 5 quarts. I have a buddy more knowledgeable than me who swears by it.

I don't think Mobil 1 carries that Ford Wxxx specification...

I think we need to stick to oils that do.

I've used Mobil 1 in all of my cars, except the Shelby - for the last 15 years. Never had an issue.

However - it doesn't meet Ford's spec/requirement for this car.

Mobil 1 does not yet meet the Ford spec. It is very close but misses on one componenet (I forget which one). I use Mobil 1 on all my other vehicles. Looks like I will go with Amsoil, as the Ford oil is reportedly poor.

Yes - I agree it's more expensive and - MotorCraft is Ford's recommended oil, but it's also Ford's oil so --- why wouldn't they recommend it :)

Upon realizing I couldn't use Mobil 1 when I was approaching 1st oil change I was even more frustrated by the price of MotorCraft oil - given I believe it's an inferior product - but I settled on it since, to your point, it's what was in there already anyway and they recommend it.

But now that I'm really thinking about the longevity of the vehicle and how I want to operate it regularly (between 5000-8250 as much as possible) - I'm looking into "better" products, even if slightly more expensive. If I'm going to spend $100 on "ok" oil, might as well spend $130 on a good oil.

I found a sale on amazon one day for a case of 12 qts, so I'm running it now. Specs are better than the Amsoil 5w-50, and it is an ester oil.
