The HU worked but the toggles switches are setup different on a GT350. You will have to swap your original ones over. Otherwise you won't have access to launch control and active exhaust also the hazard switch is different.

You are correct the evaporators are a known issue, dash has to come out to replace it. I know because not only is my car at the shop for this very thing with only 3k miles on the clock. The compressor also seems to require replacement on mine.
