What point exactly are you trying to make?Got a couple more questions:
- How do you know that the newest ones are torquing the lugs to the setting on the wrench?
- What certification standard did you use to calibrate your older ones?
- Is the calibration still valid?
- What is the tolerance you checked them to?
- Have you/are you going to perform a gage R&R on them?
- How often (time/miles) do you check the lug nuts on your vehicles?
If you're referring to my hypothetical question and trying to say anyone can be sued for anything, you're probably right. We live in a very litigation happy, greedy society fueled by unending ambulance chaser ads every where you turn.
The point of my question was some people know what the manufacturer specifies and knowingly and intentionally under torques by 30 percent.
So, sure, someone could say "you haven't had your tools calibrated and verified by xyz company to zxy standards and sue me.
But they'll never be able to say I KNOWINGLY left them unsafe.
