Currently laying in the trailer at VIR with my car up in the air…. Total clutch failure today.
pedal to the floor, no gears etc…. The car already had the EXCEDY STAGE 3, fitted a few years ago..

Now I need a new clutch, slave, master, flywheel…. What are you running / recommend..?
It’s a street legal track car, more miles on track than off… seeing multiple 7k rpm changes up and down the gears..

My buddy blew up an exedy clutch last weekend in his S2000. A spring escaped.

the life lesson: don’t use Exedy clutches.

in general, the lowest prep clutch that holds torque is best for avoiding catastrophic failures. He went back to the stock friction disk and the springs are visibly bomb-proof in comparison.

It was on there almost 4 years with probably 20 track weekends…

I'm considering a McLeod RXT, but I can't recommend it. I really don't know whether they are any good or not. Similar situation to you, OP except I plan to continue a lot of street driving as well.

I run a McLoud RST twin disc+ aluminum flywheel. It’s very durable on track. I wouldn’t get the RXT, it’s too harsh on engagement and can’t be slipped gracefully.

I run the McLoud RXT in mine, since the factory one flew apart on a Time trial weekend. It would be a little harsh on the street but with probably 30 track days on it, I would do it again for this application.

I have an RXT and still take my car out for some backroad drives here and there even though it’s 90% on the track.

If you’re actually “daily style” driving the car occasionally maybe the RST is better but if you don’t want to blow up a clutch on the track then RXT and deal with it on the street. It’s not that bad.
