Recaro seats?

I ordered the Recaro seats but I am not thinking of having it changed to just the stock seats. Should I stick with the Recaro's?

The biggest reason I am thinking about switching back to stock is that I am paying over $1500 extra for the Recaro's and I am losing powered seats...

Question is, how often do you adjust your current seats and if there's anyone else driving the car besides yourself. If it's only you driving the car, 99.9% of the time you adjust the seat one time, get your sweet spot, and then that's it. If your spouse is also driving the car, then you may have a point. Since I'm getting my S550 with a 6M, my wife will not drive it and therefore, I don't need power. In SoCal, you don't need the heated seats and for cooling, I believe the interior of the seat backs are perforated. Those seats however, will hold your back, your butt and your thighs in one place, that's for sure.

I have them on order and am keeping them on my order. Losing the power seats and heated/cooled is not a big deal for me. I love the look of the Recaro's and love the extra support they provide.

Almost never. My wife can't drive a stick so she won't be driving it but I do plan on having my 2 kids ride in the back from time to time. From what I saw in person, the front seats touch the back seats.

Honestly though, how many times do you move your seat around? Usually you set it once and forget it but not sure if you need in/out of the backseat that much....I don't at all.

I sat in the stock seats yesterday and they were amazing, make it really hard to keep the Recaro's but I will regardless.

This part of what you said is what really got me thinking about it. I went and saw the car in person last week and it has made my decision tougher.

I'm getting the memory feature because it takes me a while to find the "sweet spot..." and then when I do, someone else drives it (a rare occurrence, but it happens) and completely ruins it.

The standard seats are much more supportive than the current S197 seats. Having sat in them I no longer feel the need to get the Recaro seats. If my car was track focused then the Recaro seats would make sense.

One tip someone posted about the memory option is that it allows you to set a position for exiting the vehicle easier, ie. back and up. Then you can use one setting for a relaxed position and one for a sport position (if you like different positions based on mood).

Just the back/up position for exiting easier from a low sporty car seems like a cool use of the feature even if no one else drives the car.

Something to make it even harder to choose I suppose.

One value of the Recaros is the reduction in weight. But, I agree if you're not racing or tracking it, the weight and added bolstering are probably not a big deal. It seems the stock seats have lots of support and added value of heating/cooling.

I could be wrong, very high probability, but did I read somewhere that the new Mustang with power seats will have a feature that when you open the door the seat moves back a few inches to aid in getting in/out? Good chance I just made that up but I thought I saw that somewhere....

We should merge all Recaro threads and put a disclaimer stating "try it before you buy it." That's what it comes down to. Some people like bench seats, La-Z-Boys, decent support, or lots of support. I wouldn't go off of someone's opinion until you've tried them for yourself.

In my 2011 I had 401a seats and they were very comfortable, I currently have recaro seats out of a 2014 gt500 and I'm going to be selling them after about 3000 miles of use. I sat in the premium seats of a 2015 and they were pretty amazing, I don't think I'll be getting recaros if/when I pick up a 2015+ mustang.

Two things, first of all, it's true that the Front Seats can Nearly Touch the Back if Adjusted All the Way Back, but I'm 6'4" and when I sat in the Guard Eco-Boost Coupe in Brandon I had Tons of Leg Room Up Front and had to move the seat up to get comfortable. Secondly, I havent seen the back of the Recaro Seats, but the Backs of the Standard Front Seats are Very Hollowed Out for Rear Passenger Knee Room, which might be something to Consider if Your Kids are going to be riding back there. Personally I want the Electric Heated and Cooled Memory Seats.
