(Cough) Redline Recaros (cough) FTW

Best looking Mustang interior to date.

If they are anything like the previous Recaros, and I expect them to be pretty much identical, the drivers seat has a height adjustment (which you pump up or down with a lever), but the passenger seat does not.

I had Recaros on my '13, and my 5'4" wife had a hard time seeing over the dash from the passenger seat.
Ha, that'd be better in my case. It'd keep her from grabbing the dash and freaking out all the time

I'll be honest; my favorite OEM seats that I ever sat in (and I've driven Bentleys and Benzes and sports cars from RX-8's to, once, an Aston Martin DBS) was the front bench seat on my friend's old 1980 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. Just so plush and soft and comfortable in velvet. Not the best for high-g lateral maneuvers, but that's hardly a concern in day-to-day driving.

I just got back from test driving a black EB premium (6AT, no PP). I am definitely getting Recaros after having had some seat time and perspective.

The stock premium seats are nicely shaped and the material is okay to the touch, but not as soft or smooth as I was expecting. The bolstering forms a very nice cup around your lumbar, and the support air bladder has a nice range of depth, although you cannot adjust that bladder's height. The bolstering is too soft for me. It's very squishy, and as one owner mentioned, it does feel like vinyl.
I felt the same way. The bolsters are nothing but flimsy foam with no support at all. I really don't see why everyone is saying the stock seats are so great.

The only good thing about the bolsters is how narrow they make the seat. I like a seat to hug me. I don't see how anyone of any size would like them being that narrow though.

I really don't understand the Recaro's offered in any of the current Ford product lines.

I have no doubt they are actually made by Recaro. But, they don't have any
of the features and certainly don't feel like the seats made by Recaro for
the aftermarket.

Sorely missing (pun intended): adjustable lumbar support, adjustable thigh support,
adjustable side bolsters.

I see no reason at all to spend the extra money for Ford's late version of Recaro seats.
They feel crappy.

A friend of mine had an '81 mustang with Recaro's (a $200.00 option).
THOSE were bonafide Recaro's. Could sit in them all day ....and .....
get out feeling better than when you got in.

Yeah, they're undoubtedly comfortable and they do provide ample support, but they aren't anywhere near as aggressive as what's been reported IMO. And I think that makes sense; a stock seat has to compromise for a wide range of customer frames and conservative tastes.

Recaro is a brand name, not a specific design. They make a wide variety of OE seats along with a wide range of aftermarket buckets. Those features would be nice, but they play second fiddle to having a good base frame to work with. I'm going to miss my extending thigh support and bolsters if what you're saying is true.

Hey man I drove a solid 30 minutes to go see these bad boys! Ha, I'm sadly familiar with the foot smashed into the dead pedal to compensate thing. I think you'll be fine with the premier seats. Most people will be. But I do think that their looks are deceiving and the level of support they offer does not match their deep shells.

Best advice is for you to reserve judgement until you've had some seat time.
just want to see the car, and see how my eb questions play out..

right now i think i am going to be running daytona on the 31st.. if you can show up with a snell 05 helmet you can ride along, or just show up i can usually find a helmet for a ride along..

will post up something in the fla thread soon..

beers

I had the pleasure of driving a Focus ST with the Recaro's and man that was really comfortable. It would be cool if Ford could make something like that for the 2015 Mustang.

The only other aftermarket seat i found really comfortable was the Recaro's in the old EVO VIII. Those were super comfortable.

I love my factory Recaros. They fit me perfect have the kind of firm seating that doesn't make me numb and hold you in place without having to brace yourself. They have the pass through for shoulder harness I need it and are full mechanically adjustable. I had aftermarket Recaros in my 2010 and sure am glad I let those go with that car and ordered the optional Recaros with this new car. The airbags and not having to deal with the wiring issues made it well worth the extra money. Plus every time I get close to the door it says Recaro that might be worth the price all by itself.

If you go Premium, as most of us have, with the Recaros you get a choice of black leather, or black leather with red stitching. No cooling. No heating. No power. Where I live we had 45 days this summer over 100 degrees. And it will get down to 15 this winter. Black leather? No heating or ventilation? Not a good idea.

EXACTLY, but we can tag upwards of 120 and as low as -15.
I dig the recaros. But I need the heat and cooling.
