Just ordered my car today, and got the Recaros. I always regretted not getting them in the GT500.

I'm hoping that they are quite a bit lighter then the stock premium seats.
I like the look and the potential to ad harness, and of course reduced weight, that's why I got them.

Anyone post the difference in weight between Recaro and premium leather seats??

All - I sat in my first available local GT Premium w/ 68B (Premier Trim) w/ 50th AP yesterday.

(Disclaimer - as many posts here have suggested, 'comfort' is very subjective. Your mileage may vary.)

I had originally ordered my car with the Recaros, and changed my order to drop them about 3 weeks later. I know I won't track the car often - if at all, but still, I've been loosing sleep ever since.... until yesterday, that is. :-)

The regular premium leather seats w/ 68B are THE BEST stock non-Recaro seats I've ever sat in. I left the dealership with a huge smile on my face, knowing that everything was going to be okay, and I will be totally happy with the stock seats. So in my case at least, not spending the $1,500 on the Recaros and being able to maintain power/heat/cool is absolutely the right decision.

If it matters for reference, I'm 5'10" / 170lbs.

After seeing all the reviews of how good the stock premium seats are, I"m beginning to have 2nd thoughts on the Recaros.

I've sat in the older 2014 Recaro's and they feel pretty good to me, of course that could change after a 2 hour drive, and I've never had the opportunity to do that. I'm 5.10 about 178lbs (Athletic build) Hoping that comfort won't be a problem. I really like the look of the Recaro, the ability to ad harness later, if I wanted too, and without the motors and heating/cooling, they have to be lighter, right?

Anyone have any specs on weight, stock premium vs. Recaro ?

I went with regular seats. I personally couldn't justify the price for them, plus I won't be at the track very often.

I've been wondering the same thing. It would stand to reason they will be lighter without the motors, heating/cooling.

I just got back from test driving a black EB premium (6AT, no PP). I am definitely getting Recaros after having had some seat time and perspective.

The stock premium seats are nicely shaped and the material is okay to the touch, but not as soft or smooth as I was expecting. The bolstering forms a very nice cup around your lumbar, and the support air bladder has a nice range of depth, although you cannot adjust that bladder's height. The bolstering is too soft for me. It's very squishy, and as one owner mentioned, it does feel like vinyl.

For as neat as the cooling function was, I only used it for the first couple of minutes, got too cold at full blast, lowered it to the level 1 setting, then ultimately turned it off. I can safely disregard this feature for the added bolstering/stiffness for the Recaros without any kind of regret.

I'm pretty relieved after having read so much saying otherwise, I just don't see how people can say that there isn't a difference between the levels of support that these seats offer.

Edit: attached photo from test drive.

Yesterday after sitting in 15 GT PP 50th dark red we had a ah ha moment thinking about our future V6 with cloth and power only on driver seat. For us that's prefect because when have a 12" height difference between us, so the Recaro's would never work without power height adjustment. But not having power on the passenger side is nice because letting
someone out of the back is a lot faster with a manual slide up than waiting for power motor.

DeColores,

Info on the 15 GT PP 50th dark red we saw.

There's a difference, but I believe body shapes and sizes influence the comments. When I sat in the Recaros, I could feel a difference, but given my body type/size and intended use, I found the standard seats quite good. Plus, coming from the standard seats in my current 2010, there is a noticeable difference, so much that I found it met my needs.

It's nice we have the option.

Recall seats without a doubt

I have Recaro seats in my GT500, and they win hands down. No one else drives it, so why do I need power. I have a 14 with premium leather (I assume it would be similar), and they are nice, but not as nice.

My wife's latest Yukon has cooled seats and I wouldn't do that again. They are stiffer than the last Yukon that only had heaters, they weigh a lot more (more of a Mustang issue I know), and ultimately they feel clammy.

Heated is nice, but I live in Texas, so that's not a big loss. I could always add a heater.

The 14 seats are like barstools compared to the new premium premier seats.

Your assessment confirms my expectation about "normal" seats—they just never seem to have sufficient stiffness and solid support and therefore become a literal pain in de arse—as well as the back—during extended driving excursions. (I can sit comfortably at my desk in a well-designed Aeron chair for hours at a time—but I can hardly last the length of an old Dick Van Dyke show before getting a sore back while on my "comfy" couch.)

Thanks for your posting. Recaros—cloth—definitely for me & the Mrs.

We're of the same sentiment; I try to bring that up whenever the Recaro hot topic is discussed.

My little review was aimed at the comments suggesting that the Recaros are only needed for people tracking their car on some regular basis. I have to disagree. The stock seats are an ideal blend for someone seeking comfort and support in relatively equal portions (and want the additional climate features), but they aren't sufficient for the type of driving I'd like without having to visit the track.

Good point with the perspective. Coming from my car's seats and strictly going by photos and others' impressions, I probably had too high of hopes.

I ordered Recaro but now you guys have manged to confuse me even more!

I know we lose power features and heating and cooling, but do we lose the side air bags as well?

No side airbags in all cars regardless of the seat choice. Safety before weight.
