Dogs are so courageous that they will risk their lives without fear to save you from a wild animal attack - unless you are vacuuming.

Seems to me, the more technology advances, the more the intelligence and self-reliance of the human race seems to digress. I'm just hoping AI doesn't progress to the point one day where some computer simply says "Why the hell do we need humans again?"

People who can't walk 20 feet to return their shopping cart in a parking lot shouldn't be allowed to drive, drink alcohol or do much of anything without supervision.

That's some politician grade flip flopping. You don't want AI to "retire" humans then explain why they should.

Nah, stupid wasn't any more lethal than it is today. Infant mortality and childhood disease don't discriminate by IQ (the rates of both are way down as compared to 1921). The population in the US is also triple what it was in 1921. That's triple the number of idiots.
Fair enough.
But 100 years ago, there was no internet, no interstate system, no cell phones, no TV and like you said A LOT less people.

So my point stands. 100 years ago, statistically you were less likely to run across a live idiot.

Agreed?

beg to differ. But more to the point survival itself was hard work back then. Adversity has a knack for beating the stupid out of people.

And back then if they found a live idiot, they were locked away in institutions, further decreasing the chances of running into a live one. Now they let them roam about freely.

NEVER never never tee up an opening like that.

Waiting for Mik to ask if you're over 100 years old.

If you ever find yourself a Death row inmate, request Olive Garden’s ‘Never Ending Pasta Bowl’ as a last meal.

Does it make me a bad person that I miss the lack of traffic during the "lock downs"? I was always "essential" - and I found myself getting to work 10-15 minutes earlier to work every morning. Not to mention hardly EVER seeing anyone pulled over.
